Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

So, one thing I find strange is that almost no one seems to use burst bombs. I think I can count the amount of times I've been hit by a burst bomb on one hand. And when I do get hit it's because the enemy activates the special. I actually think Burst Bombs are awesome and I love using them, they can create so many beneficial situations. Like for instances, take the little parts on the rig right here:

When a good charger is on there, it's hard to reach that place, and a charger will notice you pretty quickly. But with burst bombs you can stay quite a bit away while still chugging burst bombs at him. This will often force them to go away from that position and you could try to take the large area or go in for the kill.

It's also a great tool for keeping foes at a distance, I've had a few instances where someone with great range (like a splattershot pro) was chasing me and I just strafed back while chugging burst bombs forward and taking him out. It takes a bit of practise and to be honest, I picked up this style of play because my aim is shaky at best, but they're so good. Seriously I've encountered 0 people who incorporate burst bombs in their play.

Edit: Also some times when I hit someone with a burst bomb in the example I gave, they panic and fall of the level, it's honestly on of the funniest ways to splat people.

Wooooo!

16-0 with the .52 Gal in Ranked.

The Splash Wall is way more effective than I originally gave it credit for.

I like your charger too, but I think you should branch out with it more. I remember outscoring you once with the charger, not because I did better but because I simply moved around the map more. If you were really aggressive with the charger I think you could be easily hitting 1300-1500, you've already got the movement down.

I'm not going for points with the Charger. Often I'm one of the lowest scorers even if I think I did well. That's simply because I'm concentrating my efforts onto holding area we already painted (the middle) and that's not earning me any points.

burst bombs, chargers, and murder
Burst bombs aren't on any? popular weapons so its not surprising they aren't popular. Sticky bombs also work well against people up there. Probably better than burst bombs because I think they have a longer throwing range

At one point during the weekend I went back to the regular Splattershot after having abandoned it early on, as I wasn't a fan of the sub-special combination at all. I was surprised to find out how effective it wound up being, burst bombs actually are more useful than people will give credit for. Handy for hitting high targets or as a lead-in attack to nail someone then quickly finish them off with rapid shots.

You can't necessarily treat them like grenades in other games, where you mash someone with one good shot and they die, but they're surprisingly good for flushing out campy enemies and I want to tool around with that set more. If anything, it's the rush that feels a bit awkward now, except for a few specific situations.

Gahhhh I can't decide whether or not to buy this game. My Wii U has been collecting dust lately and this may be a good game to get me using it again.

Yeah, true. From the top of my head I can think of 3 weapons that use it, regular splattershot, custom dual squelchers and a sniper, don't know which one, but the bombs don't really fit a sniper. I think I see some custom dual squelchers every now and then, probably because of the Kraken special and not the burst bombs. Even when I see someone with burst bombs they don't use them. And yes, stickies are very usefull in that situation too, but you would have to be very precise with them. I'm not so sure what a sticky does when you hit someone with it, but with a burst bomb you have to be less precise, because you can also just hit the enemy.

Oh and also great summary of my post, lol

Look, this man understands! Yes you're 100% right about the "it's not like grenades in other games" comparison. It's more about zoning and taking away options from your opponent!

Jesus how many disconnects did they have

0 actually. It was somewhat close match until the last minute where our whole team pushed aggressively and it had a last second inkstrike right by their spawn to further cover it, I guess nobody on their team broke out and did anything. I think I went 16-1 with the kraken roller during it.

13.5 Winstreak in about two hours before the maps switched over. I was top of the board in 90% of them. All Inkbrush.

You must have bestowed some of your soul upon me

I've read that someone put a sprinkler on the middle beam above the middle part of the map, but I tried it with 2 bomb range up and it doesn't seem possible. Maybe 3 is what is needed, but I doubt it is possible. I don't have clothing with Bomb Range Up to try.
All I can think is can you throw while jumping? (never tried)
I don't think bomb range up even works for sprinklers. They weren't listed in the guidebook's explanation of the ability.
The in-game description does not mention them and my own tests in the firing range also find that bomb range up does not affect sprinklers. Probably so scenarios like DaBoss mentions don't get worse than they already are.

I don't think the Inkbrush is bad. It's a good supportive weapon for teams in Ranked. However, how do you top the boards with it considering you're a sitting duck when attacking folks with it?

Don't be a sitting duck. If you go to attack against a gun, make sure you have the surprise element on your side. Throw sprinklers and wait for the other guy to give away his position by shooting at that.

I've never tried it in Ranked, but it's GREAT in Turf War.
I don't like Ranked in general.

arowana mall is indeed the suck

I've played f**king s**t today and am on the brink of giving up on the game and I blame the Mall for it.

I mean, sure i've not played it today much, but I still blame it for me being teh suck today. I just can't do anything right on the game.

with 3 Damage up main and 2 Damage up subs I do 50 damage with an uncharged shot (sniper), interesting. Normally it takes 3 uncharged shots to kill someone

Sprinkler gives you a good tool to distract them with then go in for the kill. If you go for the face you're going to get steamrolled but it can kill quickly if they don't know you're there.

I'll play around with the Inkbrush and grind out my XP in Turf War. Ranked is fun since I got to B-, but I feel I'm gimped clothes-wise compared to folks who are level 20.

Been playing a bit a time when I get the chance to. Thoroughly enjoying the single player. I need to jump online as soon as.

Finally got my Cherry Kicks today to finish off my fresh outfit. Managed to even somehow roll 2x special charge up on them in addition to the one on my t-shirt, it's certainly making a difference as I can pop off an inkstrike before the enemy even reaches the middle of the map.

This is more or less how much it can cover the Splat Zone itself:

Can be shifted to the left a bit more with a better placement, but it gives a general idea.

Do you need to be on top of the boxes to throw the sprinkler up there? That area is so heavily contested I have a feeling I'd be dead if I had to stand on ceremony like that to place it.

What's everyone go-to weapons/loadouts?
Inkbrush or Dynamo Roller. Pretty much given up on projectile weapons now since I'm evidently not as good at aiming as most Japanese players.

About to get on.

As a roller, if I'm the only roller on the team what should my 3 teammates expect out of me? Cover everything in sight and unleash the Krakon?

this comparison doesn't work because 2fort is in fact amazing

2fort blows. Only ones I've liked were the heavily modified versions you'd find in the older mods.

I'd say it matters who/what is on your team. If the team is a bunch of .52 gals or you noticing them just going after kills ya you better be working painting more than anything else.

The funny thing is that my Roller game SUCKS. I've seen people dominate with rollers but I've never been able to duplicate the success. That and chargers. Jesus I suck at chargers. I'd like to get better with them, too.

I've been playing pretty bad today too until just recently. Naturally blaming the mall won't get you better ;)
But taking breaks is good :)
