Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

Doesn't seem to work well, I usually lose when I'm teamed with rollers.

It depends on the map. Dynamos are great at holding in general but kraken rollers are only good for retaking a site with their silly special move combined with my echolocator.

Is that essentially how rollers play ranked? Then it sounds like I should wait for them to build their silly specials before going in.

I was sure I saw it posted weeks ago the girl Amiibo was supposed to unlock the rhythm game. Instead it was the volleyball one.

Was I losing my mind or was that info not posted?

I played once with 3 kraken rollers (I'm .96) on saltspray and even though the zone went back and forth I knew in the end we would loose because the other team is better at defending the site, while we were better at retaking it. It's the team that is best at holding a site that wins in my experience.

That's it. Violet was mistaken about the Splattershot.

nah I noticed you use the Dual Squelcher, I just group it with the other Splattershots. Very annoying to deal with when all I want to do is camp on my sniper spot
Tried the splatterscope for the first time. Never used a 'sniper' class before. Holy shit I'm terrible lol. 390p and 0-4 my first game. Managed to get 560p and 5-3 by my third game, hopefully I can eventually become decent. 'Regular' guns are getting boring for me so I wanna try something new.

if you use the Splatterscope (the one with the scope) change to the regular Splat Chargers, the scope is so not worth it (you get a slight increase in range but lose a lot of vision when zooming in). And never use Squiffers either, they're terrible
Yes you do. =P

Just hit him with bombs and back off a bit. =D
He's using the Dual Squelcher.
I have a damn Sprinkler, lol

So I just had a splatzone match where we splatered all 4 players at the start, and the fuckers got the control back by using 2 bubbles in a row!. Wow!
They pretty much zoned us out after that,

After being as high as B+ 98points while losing it all (that ONE +8 game) and getting as low as B 0points.. I finally made it to A-.

And, the game to give it to me was the easiest game I've ever had.

Hoping I can stay in A.
I don't know if I'll ever get to A+, but at least I'm here.

Think I'm going to take a break from Ranked for a little while now, though. It's too stressful for me. So many things can go wrong.

I love how the past 3 rotations have had Warehouse available in some form lol. It's like the devs wanted us to try out that sprinkler spot lol.

Good games, GAF. Didn't really put up gaudy numbers or anything, but kept my kill/death ratio in the positive for the most part. Was trying to play more of a support role with my range, so that's pretty good. Timeaisis refused to let me camp on the truck, though. :(

(Also, yeesh, at all the Port Mackerel. What was that, 8 rounds in a row?)

Speaking of squid girls, I like the fact that you can change the sex and look of your squid any time. Maybe next week I'll have a squid girl instead of a squid boy

Dropped from B- to c+ and I literally lost 15-20 games in a row.

I think I'm done for the day. Don't think I've ever had a losing streak that bad ever and I've been online gaming for about 11 years.

I don't think I like the junior, the spread can actually make you miss tons of shots and the range is way too much of liability. Maybe with the bubbler instead of echolocator, but still, not crazy about it

Yeah it was super stupid.

Fun games though!

On the Mall, playing sniper on obvious the sniper spot.
I had a enemy squid go around the back alley that ends up behind my sniper spot by walking, not spreading ink, so I could not tell by looking at the pad.
I'm not even mad

I think I'm in love with the mall in ranked. No more blaster shenanigans! :D :D

That is quite some dedication.

Haha, that's amazing.

That hallway is so nerve-wracking when you have a lead and are trying to hold it. Constant watching the center area and constant watching the hallway behind you...

Holy shit! I just realised my contest entry ended up on the splatoon art judging page even though I'm not a US Resident! That means the dev team actually saw my art! (It's the leaping inkling with the orange blast into the camera)

Anyway, the gif runner up is fucking radical

Ever since picking up the inkbrush, I've been blaring a mix of Stranger I Remain and I'm My Own Master now on occasion. Stupidly cheesy but hilarious fun especially when you go on streaks of inkbrush murders. :lol

This also reminds me that I still want that Rules of Nature sung in Ink-lish for a Inkbrush video montage.
Oh this is gold and I'm going to steal it for when I play Inkbrush.

Maybe a weird question, but is there some type of skill based matchmaking with this game? The reason I ask is I'm a level 16, and right before the map switch, I had a level 2, 3 and 5 on my team. The other team was entirely made up of level 20s. (Obviously, we didn't win. I scored like 1058p with the second best person getting 168p. And they weren't late adds or anything; had the same team the entire match.)

Once Salt-Spray Rig comes up, I'm outie. Can't stand that map at all.

Skill based match making is the ranked games. Where your skill is determined by a letter grade.
Your level isn't really related to skill and more just how long you've played the game. The regular playlist matches everybody with everybody because it is unranked.

After yesterday's losing streak I managed to completely reverse it and win 20+ in a row. Now I'm at A+ 99 and don't have to play rank anymore. Nothing left for me to do in the game.

Thanks. I would think there should be some type of balance, though. There's no excuse for that lop-sided of a team. I can understand throwing everyone at any level into the same room, but they should try to make sure all the low levels don't end up together. And, ya, I'm salty. Was on a 9 or 10 game winning streak until I got the n00b lobby.

There's just a few little things about this game I'd love to change. The four hour map window thing is argh. Since Salt-Spray's in there, I won't be playing until they switch again.

there's always one thing left to do, man.

stay fresh

levels don't directly translate into power/ability. Back when the game began lvl 6s were wrecking japanese lvl 16s erry day for a bit until things stabilised

What are you guys' rankings for the maps so far? I'd say...

1. Urchin Underpass (feels balanced, good sniping spots, and a few choke points)
2. Walleye Warehouse (very action-y, very open, fun free-for-alls)
3. Arowana Mall (very technical map, nice balance for snipers/gunners)
4. Blackberry Skatepark (very open map, but has some sneaky cool places to snipe and position yourself)
5. Port Mackerel (narrow corridors lead to some fun gunner shenanigans, defensive kind of map)
6. Saltspray Rig (not bad, but feels a little flowchart-y with the main strategies)

They're tough to rank because they all have their pros and cons.

I think it's fun going back to turf war and go for kills instead of covering the ground. It's pretty funny wiping an entire group of random people yourself.

what i'd really like to see in saltspray is maybe another two ways to get into that back area. Not sure how you'd do it though without completely opening that zone up
