Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

So my room was lagging and getting a lot of unstable conn...

Figured it was the room, so I dropped and moved to another... same problem.

Pingtest... I AM SO SORRY PEOPLE WHO PLAYED ME!!

What are you guys' rankings for the maps so far? I'd say...

1. Urchin Underpass (feels balanced, good sniping spots, and a few choke points)
2. Walleye Warehouse (very action-y, very open, fun free-for-alls)
3. Arowana Mall (very technical map, nice balance for snipers/gunners)
4. Blackberry Skatepark (very open map, but has some sneaky cool places to snipe and position yourself)
5. Port Mackerel (narrow corridors lead to some fun gunner shenanigans, defensive kind of map)
6. Saltspray Rig (not bad, but feels a little flowchart-y with the main strategies)

They're tough to rank because they all have their pros and cons.

My favorite is Port Mackerel. I like how it's easy to get a jump on rollers on that level. Plus, it's just a lot of fun.

The rest, I don't have any preference for. They're all fine...except Saltspray. I loathe that one. Part of it is I hate how it's impossible to get to the other team's spawn. It locks down that area completely.

I really want to be playing some Splatoon right now but even though I have no horse in this race my Canadian blood blocks me from playing Splatoon when the Stanley Cup final is going on.

Ink the racetrack.

I was riding along the highway the other day looking at all the asphalt and all I could think about was "goddamn I want to splat this entire highway"

This hockey game is so good !

The only thing with Port Mackerel is that I wish it had more vertical options. The map is really built to prevent people from going up and down. Feels more like a Goldeneye map than a Splatoon map, actually. I guess it's good that they put one like that, though. They can't all be ridiculous towers like Arowana Mall.

Saltspray Rig's spawn area is weird. I kind of like it because it stops the other team from completely pushing to the base. But there's still only, like, three or four exits so it's still kind of choke-pointy.

I've seen the light on the bubbler after I made a play in which I squidcrawled up the walls of midpoint of Arowana Mall to spread it to two teammates to save them from a .52 gal ambush.

And it's so lulzy how you can get pushed off ledges. But I just had the ultimate turnabout in which I physically pushed a squid to its death with my bubble off the ramp up to mid at Arowana.

Just got this game a few hours ago. I only did the first part of the single player so far and I am about to try the Turf War.

Honestly, I don't know what people mean about the motion controls being awkward. I got them right away. The only thing I would change is the default jump button. I want to press B instead of X. Other than that, the controls feels perfect. But maybe because I use motion controls in other games without any incidence. *shurg*.

Thanks. I would think there should be some type of balance, though. There's no excuse for that lop-sided of a team. I can understand throwing everyone at any level into the same room, but they should try to make sure all the low levels don't end up together. And, ya, I'm salty. Was on a 9 or 10 game winning streak until I got the n00b lobby.

There's just a few little things about this game I'd love to change. The four hour map window thing is argh. Since Salt-Spray's in there, I won't be playing until they switch again.

I like the random matchmaking. It's fun to beat up on some sub level 10s after getting beat up on ranked lol.

Maybe a weird question, but is there some type of skill based matchmaking with this game? The reason I ask is I'm a level 16, and right before the map switch, I had a level 2, 3 and 5 on my team. The other team was entirely made up of level 20s. (Obviously, we didn't win. I scored like 1058p with the second best person getting 168p. And they weren't late adds or anything; had the same team the entire match.)

Once Salt-Spray Rig comes up, I'm outie. Can't stand that map at all.

I let my kids play a match from time to time probably younger kids playing. They are just trying to have fun also.

Okay, I just registered all the characters in my triple pack but after I registered it, nothing appeared in game when I took the Amiibo off. No list of new content, nothing in my inventory, etc.

Am I missing something?

This is my first
and probably last
experience with Amiibos, if someone can help,
I'd really appreciate it.

I know this game is good when my gf and I are arguing over who gets to play next.

I'm loving it.

Started playing some single player tonight and that mode is amazing too! I wasn't expecting it to be so good.

Think I got really lucky with a pair of shoes with Ink resistance + 2x ink recovery up. Need to add a 3rd slot and hopefully really luck out.

Scan one and then there will be an NPC in the amiibo box. If you talk to that inkling/squid it'll give you challenges you can complete for gear and money.

I mostly signed on tonight just so that the headphones I ordered from Spyke wouldn't lapse, but I figured since I was already in, I'd fuck around a bit and tried a few rounds with the Kelp Splatterscope. My completely pointless charger quest continues, I guess.

What feels odd is I actually had a couple of really good rounds mixed in with my normal crap with it. Some of my typical 2:4 games that I've had with chargers in the past, but there were a couple of rounds where I suddenly decided that I knew what I was doing and was popping folks quickly and effectively. My best culminated in a round going 1100+p, and 9:2, leading my team. Both of my best rounds for kills came in the warehouse rather than the rig, I guess the long terrain there just lends itself better to snipes? I dunno. I'm worried that this will encourage me to try again later even though I really shouldn't.

Saltspray Rig is a whole lot of fun but I've never felt the "I'm doing well but my teammates sure as hell aren't" more than on any of the other maps. So many times I'll be holding enemies off on one of the various areas while covering ink only to look at the map to see the rest of my team being ruined by the opponent team.

Also there are way too many times when I'll be mostly through with painting an area and two other teammates will jump to me so now we have three of our team on one small part of the map that's already painted with our color.

I love it when things are going my way and all of my team is pulling their weight though
