Objectively wrong.
Im just glad they can be switched off, not everyone wants or likes motion controls, choice is a good thing

Really disappointed in that. I thought that was just a problem with the testfire.
I wouldn't have a problem switching to a different weapon if someone is already filling that role. It's going to suck when you want to try out the charger or something and being the third charger on your team. That exact scenario happened to me in the testfire and that was one of the worst games I've ever had in any game ever.
I wouldn't want to be the third anything on any team.
Being stuck like that is.. ugh.
If there's one publisher that can't ever live anything down, is Nintendo. It's totally not fair to have a double standard on these type of situations and on Consoles especially Nintendo thread's there seems to be.
Haven't really thought about it as free DLC, rather the game being rolled out little by little to give people time to get a feel for it. It is a pretty unique shooter. Whether this will work out for them in the long run is the real question.I really don't like this method. From the outside, it seems like Nintendo is being the nice guy by giving people free DLC but in the end it's simply held back content.
The biggest issue is that this is an online-focused community-driven game.
If the playerbase falls off because there's no content, will they come back when the content is there? If people aren't playing the game, will people who waited go "okay, now's the time to jump in"? I don't think so.
If Destiny had all the content it has now off the bat, more people would be playing it to this day. If Titanfall had more maps, progression, etc from launch, would it be the next CoD instead of the blip in the radar it was?
That's why you need a lot of content at launch for a multiplayer game. People will get bored and won't look back if you don't.

Its genuinely nice that they're adding free maps, but, 5 at launch is still just awful. Can't help but feel they're getting a free pass on that.
You clearly haven't been following the discussions here the last couple of weeks.

I guess they should've delayed this game a bit and given us Yoshi sooner.

You have 5 maps at launch and a new map added around every week.

They are getting docked, from what I've seenI haven't, but, I guess I should have clarified I think they're getting a free pass in reviews.

There is a bigger update in August but a new map will be added every 2 week.wait, is this true???? new maps every week?
i thought the update wasn't until august?
When did that frequency become known? The timing Nintendo sent to reviewers with codes was "...New stages released every few weeks..."
That, to me, sounds like every three-ish weeks, not weekly.
I'm somewhat willing to give Nintendo a break as the game is probably not finished and Nintendo needed something on the Wii U this summer.
Yea, sorry, you either get 60$ game that's worth it or you don't. Titanfall, Evolve, The order, not worth full price, and more worth it if you wait for a price drop.
Game should be reviewed at face value not what is to come a month or two down the line.

Everyone complaining about having only 5 maps - that isn't even the worst part. Having only 2 multiplayer modes is the real stinker.
every other week according to the UK Direct
I hope it doesn't become a standard though.I'm somewhat willing to give Nintendo a break as the game is probably not finished and Nintendo needed something on the Wii U this summer.
Good scores, but the double standards annoy me. If you look back to MP-centric games like Shadowrun last gen, they got butchered in reviews for having a lack of single player content and lack of modes. Interesting that this is getting better scores for about the same thing.
Weird side commentary, so I apologize. I'm still bitter that Shadowrun never got a fair shake with gamers.

EDIT: When did they say we'd get new content every week?

If scores are re-updated after August updates, I think we'll start seeing 9's

i agree. when you're the only gunner on a team of rollers... it's hell yo.
or a 4 charger team. oof.

What a review, they just loved it. Summary: One of the best TPS and multiplayer game ever released.

How is it possible to bypass every splatoon thread so far not to mention the direct and other youtube vids?
Yet somehow see this thread and be surprised by the 5 maps AT LAUNCH with maps coming evey 1 or 2 weeks after launch?
Wow man.
IGN Italy said:Somehow, Splatoon is a true masterpiece that changes the face of the shooter genre with its unique attitude and its brilliant gameplay. Yet at the same time it's a shame to see a game that's so fun and fresh plagued by such an antediluvian idea of online play.
I'm somewhat willing to give Nintendo a break as the game is probably not finished and Nintendo needed something on the Wii U this summer.
Splatoon might just be more "generally" fun than Shadowrun, or generally better designed. Or just reviewed by different people.
That and the game has a pretty unique single player campaign.
From the OP:
Oh, it's antediluvian. It's of or belonging to the time before the biblical Flood.
I, for one, would be quite interested in the online proclivities of this time period's avid online gamers.
