Splinter Cell CT: $20 after rebate @ Ebgames.

Figures. Pandora Tommorrow dropped in price relatively fast as well. The word is out on how shoddily UBI handles quality control. My plan is to wait till $19.99 for this game but with the voucher I may get it now.

I've been playing this game non-stop for the past couple weeks and ran into a few occasions of lag during co-op... thats it. (playing single player, verses and co-op) Some of you people get this shit in your head about something and can't let it go / figure it out for yourself. Hell I've seen more glitches in God of War than SC... and GoW isnt even online.

This game is, by far, the best stealth game on the market (MGS3 beats it storyline wise though). And now at $20-30 it's a freakin steal! Crazy.

This is the truth and you bitches needs to recognize. MGS3 is $20 as well and was GAF GOTY so don't knock SC cause of the price.

Wait! So both MGS3 and SC:CT are $20 at Ebgames?

If this is true I will purchase them immediately.

You should, two of my favorite games...

Splinter Cell = Godly Verses mode

MGS3 = amazing story

:D

Personally, I think Unison is completely full of it. This game isn't tanking. Someone I was just talking to brought up a good point, this may be a way for EB to get rid of Xbox's in their warehouses to prepare for the 360. I sincerely doubt that SC has tanked.

Also, just poking around online, I haven't noticed anyone else dropping their prices. This price drop I doubt has anything to do with the game not selling well. How can it not be selling well when it has been in the top 10 sellers recently?

Perhaps the drop happened because the Collector's Editions are selling better than expected? I notice they are still priced at $54.99.

EDIT: PS2 Collector's Edition is now $30.

Anyway, too bad this doesn't apply to the PC version. I have the game on Xbox already, but would spend $20 to get it on PC as well.

.... Gamestop.com has dropped the PS2 / Cube versions to $30.

Did Splinter Cell kill your dog? :lol

94% Crap

Yeah dude they'd be crazy to buy it now. :rolleyes

I am just a MGS kinda guy. All the SC fanboys were gloating over MGS' less than stellar sales, so I felt I needed to gloat a little. :D

:lol :lol I didn't know the stealth genre was so splintered (pardon the pun). I honestly love both games. IMO the play control is much better in SC and I love the online play but MGS3 does rape it in terms of story. So they each have something over the other.

The Xbox one is still $50 on Gamestop.com too, so there goes that theory. :lol

The Xbox one is the best one. The other 2 console ones were obvious shovelware. Who the hell would buy the GC version? :lol :lol

I have no idea why someone would want *any* Splinter Cell, much less a bad port of it! :D

The thing is though, that MGS3 didn't bomb. I wouldn't call 900k a failure.

Wow, it sold that much in the US? Cool. Was that before the Price Drops?

Maybe Ubisoft can start giving away a copy of Prince of Persia:WW when you buy SC:CT to boost its sales. :lol

It's all relative.

Konami expected MGS3 to sell a LOT more (even the creator stated disappointment) whereas, according to Ubi's recent press release, they seem satified with SC:CT's sales. I highly doubt they expect 2+ million sales for a game frachiese they release every year.

Edit: No Unison, that's worldwide. Bomb. ;)

The Xbox version is the only one selling well I think, so that makes it kind of an interesting dilemma for retailers. Do you mark down the price on ONLY the PS2/Cube versions, and risk that people will stop buying the Xbox one? Or do you take a hit and mark them all down?

Obviously Gamestop and EB have tackled the problem differently.

It was over 800k before the pricedrop took part IIRC. By next NPD it will move over 900k (4,500 more needed).

Holy hell looks like people caught on!

Regardless if the theory is correct or not, I fail to see how Gamestop's pricing has anything to do with EB's current situation as far as current available stock of Xboxs (i.e. I don't see how it blows the theory out the window).

EB's stock != Gamestops stock

EBGames isn't stupid enough to think that marking some game down $30 is going to move a lot of Xboxen out of their stores. If you are going to buy a game system for JUST ONE GAME I don't think you're really going to be sitting on the fence waiting for that game to drop in price.

Why would they be looking to clear out their Xbox stock anyway? By almost all accounts the Xbox is in short supply....stores need more units, and have no excess inventory.

I don't think it's the greatest theory in the world either, but the mystery remains - why would the price drop so fast?

EBGames/Gamestop probably has a lot of excess stock and is panicking over it. Ubisoft claims to have shipped 2.5 million copies but only around 10% of that sold through in the US (according to NPD).

EB's stock != Gamestops stock
If you wanna get technical

EBGames = Gamestop

Therefore

EB's stock = Gamestop's stock

;)

Are they merged already? I would think anything like what they just announced recently wouldn't be that quick of a transaction.

It says "GameStop to buy Electronics Boutique". Meaning, it is planned and the wheels are in motion.

Gamestop != EB Games just yet.

That is, if you want to get technical.

:D

Don't think for one minute that they won't compete. That's how profits are to be made.

Uh, profits are made by retail chains by eliminating competition. Two stores that are part of the same entity aren't going to price gouge each other into submission. :lol

Anyway, stealth games aren't really as popular as they were last gen (same with fighting games, platform games, horror games... ) and releasing a new version on an almost annual basis doesn't seem to be helping.

They aren't the same entity. Not yet.

Furthermore, profits are not tied directly to eliminating competition. Competition exists in plenty of markets where multiple companies profit. Hell, if you take a look at how many large companies work, each division is treated like a company. Competition leads to better efficiency.

MS's situation is not the rule, but the exception. Most markets have plenty of competition.

Retail chains can profit with other competitors. It happens ALL the time.

Fuck Splinter Cell Chaos Theory. That game deserved to bomb.

But MGS3 and RE4... now THOSE were games.

Now that's just stupid. I don't like MGS at all, but I would never say something that dumb.

Step away from the pipe.

I don't know about the PS2 or Cube ports, but on the Box it's utter sweetness.

Have you even played the game? Splinter Cell(s) is/are off the chain. You're just mad because Sam could kick Snake's ass arentcha'? :lol
