I am about to watch the first episode of Ore Imo S2. I don't know why. I didn't even watch the first season. This is dumb, but Im going to do it anyway.
See, that felt a lot more honest in Genshiken than it ever did in OreImo. Heck, even the nearly all female-cast of Genshiken: TNG feels more genuine than the cast of OreImo, and the whole "let's have girls joke about BL" thing is anathema to me now.
Maybe I'm just old and grumpy about these things. People still seem to like Community and, specifically, Abed being all Abed-ey. lol

I like Genshiken because it balances the nerdery with real life. It's probably the most restrained and realistic of the "nerd culture" manga/anime that exist out there.
Hype delivered, good stuff. I like that they're using the eyecatches to put all the information from the volumes, some interesting stuff that helps flesh everything out.
What I like about OreImo is how well the VA and director capture the feeling of geeking out over pop culture stuff. Kirino is a fun character, screw the haters. I'm glad to have it back.

OreImo walks the fine line between slight self-mocking of the anime otaku demographic, and showcasing the hobby in all of its facets without being too judgmental about it. It's rather keen.

Just as funny as the manga which I read first some time ago. Looks really clean and really like the VA so far. Akutabe is even more awesome in the anime.
Excellent. Magi 2.0 this is not. If it was, we would already have seen (semi-big manga spoilers)
Eren's titan form.
Instead, we get properly paced buildup, good atmosphere, a fitting soundtrack, and an appropriate presentation that is rarely over the top for the worse. Right now, the true might of the titans and futility of fighting them has not been totally conveyed, but this is a VERY promising start, and if they can get that right, I will be completely satisfied with this adaptation.
Watching:
Aikatsu! (AOTY all years)
Muromi-san (good pacing, snappy execution and consistently fun animation)
Titan (didn't particularly love it, but I definitely enjoyed it)
Doki Doki Precure (because I've lost control of my life)
I didn't feel it as much as S1, but I'll keep watching for now:
Azazel-san Z
Dropped:
Majestic Prince
Maybe if I hate myself enough:
Photo Kano (Yokoyama ;_
Aku no Hana
SNAFU
Demon King
Waiting for it to be released in a way that doesn't give me eye-cancer:
Gargantia
Yuyushiki
Aiura
Fully committed:
Hataraku Maou-sama!
Karneval
Uta no Prince-sama Maji Love 2000%
Yahari ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru
Testing the waters:
Devil Survivor 2 The Animation
Namiuchigiwa no Muromi-san
Red Data Girl
Future Plans:
Ketsuekigata-kun! (Probably a yes)
Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko (Dependant on time and if it hooks me)
Yondemasu yo, Azazel-san. Z (After Season 1 and the OVAs)
Finally had the chance to watch this with my sister, who's only real interest in anime comes from some lame shoujo romances and maybe some Nodame Cantabile. Her tsun tsun aside ("that was so weird"), I was looking at her face while throughout the shor and I was surprised by how enraptured she looked. Even when she goes to the movies she has the tendency to drift her sight away towards her phone or any other distractions.
LWA's story may be a simple one, but that doesn't mean it is not captivating. There's not a dull moment in it, and the little payoffs at the end (mainly
Diana's otakuness and Shiny Chariot's identity
) speak strongly of how good the characterisation is in this film. Yoshinari managed to keep a lot of story tight even when the majority of the plot could be told solely through the visuals.
Oreimo 2 1
What a great reminder of how loathsome Kirino is. It's an introduction episode that was both unpleasant and a chore to watch. I'll probably give this another week, but this was a really poor start.

Holy fucking shit, everybody should be watching this. The backgrounds are gorgeous, the direction is absolutely amazing across the board, the story was really interesting and the actual art and is honestly really cool. It adds a ton of atmosphere to the show. If this is the future of anime then sign me up. The rotoscoping really adds something to this show that traditional animation can't do.
The only gripe I have is that its hard to tell who is speaking at times. This is only relevant during the group shots with a lot of people but I can imagine this being a common occurence in the series since most of it (so far) takes place within school. Not animating mouths (or faces) for that matter means you really have to nail it home with either visual or audio cues and at times its hard to keep up with. I'd imagine its less of a problem as time goes on when I can associate a voice with a character.
I really wonder if they'll do or at least mention the last two volumes of the "season 1" manga in the new anime adaptation or if they'll just skip ahead. At the very least, they would need to explain how Sasahara and Ogiue get together.
I can sense something great underlying this but it's going very, very slowly so far. Still, it's going in such a way that I don't really notice that time is passing, so I'm at least being entertained. And hell, it's on Crunchy, so I'll keep watching.

It wasn't that difficult to watch the show, but Kirino is abhorrent and her brother is a spineless dumbass.
luckily the other characters are great and bring the show up from the depths.
I don't really understand what Kirino did wrong in the most recent episode that would elicit such a strong reaction. She's on the phone. Stop interrupting needy main character.
