None which are particularly positive. I mean, I know maybe three people who didn't hate the movie (that's including myself, also BluWacky), but almost everyone else I've talked to about it absolutely loathed it.
It's a really weird movie, though. It's a pretty decent romantic comedy - it's genuinely pretty funny, with good comic timing and a decent sense of incremental absurdity, but manages it whilst having pretty well-drawn characters - but it's core sci-fi plot is incredibly muddled, and it's ultimate conclusion was near-incomprehensible in parts, and utterly bizarre in others. Which is a bit of a shame, because it doesn't really hit that point until it's last third, and everything up to that point is so good that, as a result, it was more deflating than it probably should have been. The result likely coloured a lot of other peoples opinions of the movie more than it probably should have.
Saying that, the movie is a little too preoccupied with being subversive at times - it's a very Sunrise 8 thing to be doing in a sense, but given that they're basing the movie on a what is, at this point, a very well-trodden, frequently adapted Japanese book, it was probably necessary to some degree. It is a bit overdone, though, and it does mean that they take some incredibly strange, left-field plot developments on occasion, as they deliberate strive to differentiate themselves, and it's a little jarring in the fashion that they choose to resolve certain things. It also means a fairly interesting, if rote, plotline to the movie is more-or-less completely ignored past a point.
At the same time, they set themselves up as being a psuedo-sequel to the original story, and whilst in hindsight I don't think it's as bad as I thought at the time, there's some things in there which are going to make absolutely no sense without a grounding in the original work, and unfortunately mostly just serve to make the climax even more befuddling - it's a little tricky to differentiate what the movie was expecting you to know about characters and settings already, and what is in there as foreshadowing. There's a couple of things I sat through most of the movie waiting for the shoe to drop on, only for them to turn out to be subtle references to the original work (which, I'd imagine, they'd assumed that everyone in Japan was familiar with).
It is absolutely beautiful to look at, though!
