I can't get rid of a file and I could use some help. I have run Ad-Awre , Hijack this, Spybot. Adare says it cannot remove the file because it is in use. I have no other windows open. The file I am trying to remove is C:/program files/Tvmedia/tvmedia.exe. I tried to delete this file and windows xp won't let me. I am not very good on the tech side of things with pcs' so any advice would be greatly appreciated. :)

p.s. It alos does not show up in my add/remove programs in my control panel. It is getting very annoying now because winpatrol keeps popping up asking me to allow this file and I keep hitting no.

thanks! Help! lol!

What I do - which is rather convoluted, but gets the job done:

Go to Start -> Accessories-> Command Prompt
In that window, type cd ../../Program Files/Tvmedia

Now, in the Windows Task Manager (which you get by pressing CTRL-ALT-DEL), select explorer.exe and then End Process.

Now, back in the Command Prompt, type in: del *.*
Then go back to the Windows Task Manager, go to the File menu, select New Task(Run...) and type in: explorer.exe

It may be unnecessarily complex, but it at least works for me.
And you may have to reboot to get the program out of memory.

Oh, and one more thing, before you type in del *.*, make SURE you're in the right directory.

You don't want to be deleting everything in your Documents and Settings folder, for example.

Thanks , I appreciate the help. I turned off my comp. Went out to eatand when I turnned it back on ad-aware ran again (begore desktop came up) and did not pick up anything suspicious. I wonder why it didn't automatically run when I rebooted earlier tonight.
