They can't even show a live demo that doesn't crash.

When was the last time you saw a dev company doing a live demo on stage? E3 circa early 2000's? Let alone a 1h15 mins demo?

There's a reason why. Even Sony games at launch are riddled with bugs, shall we check Spider-Man 2?

I admire the balls of doing it live in front of thousands. The other devs are fucking pussies now. You get trailers made by marketing peoples all filtered with no bugs and most often than not is not even representative of day 1 (cough cyberpunk cough)

Will players get the complete ships at the start of the infinite early access, or will they have to pledge money to get the engines and cockpits?

Last one I remember on a stage the same level as E3 was Cory Barlog playing the God of War demo, but devs do dev streams with live gameplay demos all the time. You see live demos at shows like PAX East.

This game is judged by what exists until they show us something better. And what exists is still a massive shit show.

This is a weird take.

Squardon 42 has been in development for over 12 years now and was announced as "feature complete" back in 2023. The chances of this getting delayed again are a lot higher than it releasing in 2026. Again.

The only thing that would be useful to reveal is a release date in the next few months Everyone else is noise at this point.

This game is so ridiculous that at some point they will have a trailer to announce that there will be a release date announcement, and when the day comes it will be something like "We've locked down a release date sometime between 2027-2030" (Unless there are delays)

Citizencon October 11th is basically assured to be almost entirely dedicated to SQ42.

Newsletter today still holds 2026 date firm.

The guy in charge of this company, chris roberts, has a beautiful mansion in pacific palisades where hollywood actors and directors live in LA. Guy is a multi-millionaire and hasnt made a single game in the last twenty years.

You admire them for scamming people out of money? It dosen't take balls to steal from someone, it takes balls to release what you promised which they never will. Fuck those clowns.

Wow I've never seen that argument before. You're so original.

Yes, mastermind scam where you go from 50 to 1000 employees, basically reinvent a graphic engine to do things that no engine has ever done before with seamless loading on massive scales, make an online game that has tens of thousands of players daily where you need to entertain, patch, maintain servers, find new server tech, grow, market, year over year, spend tons of money on it in UK public records

But he didn't run away with the initial funding

You got it Sherlock!

^Chris's real-life yacht pictured above can be yours in game for a mere $99,999 pledge, but only if you've already achieved Praefectus status by pledging over $500k. Adding the Leader's Yacht to your fleet adds Instagram Bikini Model gameplay where so long as the credits keep flowing they are down to do anything. Yacht gameplay has been added to the roadmap for 2029.

Hello KyoZz, thank you for your contribution to Spectrum. However, since you used logic and reason, and because the last two remaining functioning braincells at CIG, are both fighting for the 3rd place, we find this comment very ableist and brain-o-phobic, and thus, your chat and forum priviliges have been temporarily suspended, till 6-9-2069.

Your Star Citizen game account hasn't been affected "at this point in time".

Cheers,

I would love to play a good Singleplayer campaign.
Agreed. So it's a good thing SQ42 wasn't released as first planned then, because the project would've been an empty shell and dead within days

But the legit changes they implemented over the last year or two has done wonders for the user experience and development progress for both SC and SQ42. Even Roberts himself is nowhere to be seen in the dev updates anymore, and many of us are happy about that. The more than 1 000 talented developers has been unshackled, and things are looking brighter.

The changes in dev strategy is also the reason why It's actually possible to enjoy hands on playing Star Citizen these days. I didn't touch it for more than a decade because I didn't see any reason to (original 2012 backer, 30 bucks invested). However, it almost feels like a game now, although still rough around the edges. Last night I logged in, did a bunch of missions and exploring for three hours, had fun messing about in its universe, logged out, no sweat. Even the elevator-meme was nowhere to be seen 🤷‍♂️

You're just shitposting for a dopamine hit or you truely believe he's got a yacht?
Yeah, that myth has been debunked many times. Long story short, he rented a boat while on vacation a few years ago. He made the mistake of posting pics of it. From the looks of the photo, he rented a relatively humble semi-open ~30 foot boat. But when you desperately want to shape the narrative, of course it suddenly becomes an oligarch yacht.

This the only part of Star Citizen that intrested me, I did however think it would be done like 5 years ago. Already seen the usual suspects preforming the usual...

Starcitizen defence, so cant wait to see who they get when they ramp up to closed alpha for squadron in 2030.

Just glancing at the subreddit it does seem more like people discussing/complaining about an actual game these days rather than vaporware.

I think I first played a Wing Commander game on SNES at age 11, and I backed in 2013, so my pledge is now older than I was when I started with Chris Roberts. Privateer on my 486DX2 was age 12 (and ohh so much better with a Thrustmaster stick compared to playing a space game on a freakin' d-pad) so I'll cross that mark in the coming months as well. On the one hand it's kind of crazy to think about, on the other hand I'm still not that worried, if SQ42 never comes out it's a minor L in the grand scheme of things.

They're not far off charging players to refuel their ships.
Either pay up or deploy your solar panels and wait an hour for your reserve power cells to refill.
