One can only dream

Yuck. No matter how pretty the game looks, a polished turd is a turd.
How was the game a turd? Absolutely loved the game and characters. Sure it had silly moments but that gave it some personality that most other games dont do at all.
Mechanics to me were solid with some practice so to me it was fine.

I wonder if this is the mid-tier non traditional FF spin-off that Verendus was talking about?

5. On the back of that, FFXII HD on current gen is basically confirmed at this point. As is one of the older Dragon Quest titles in HD (I've genuinely forgot which number though since it's been a while). In addition to that, there is a spin-off Final Fantasy title planned for consoles. Not big budget. Not FFX or FF7 in case people take it there. Not a traditional RPG either.

This seems the more accurate. Hmm

Sounds like a new IP, I guess.

I hope so. All these people wishing for a remaster/remake/sequel when there's such a small amount of new console JRPG IPs these days is strange to me.

EDIT:
Actually, a new Dissidia would be great. The gameplay was fun and I would love to be able to play that online.

FF7 is so overrated, give me a new Chrono game.

First you'd have to:
- wake Yuji Hori up from his cryotube & actually get him half-way involved in a video game again.

Next you'd have to:
-trick Masato Kato into believing his work will finally be appreciated.

After that, you'd have to:
-find whatever random Hawaiian surf shop Sakaguchi is hanging out at & convince him to dedicate a couple of years to a new AAA game. Think how many gnarly waves he'd have to sacrifice!

Finally, and most importantly, you'd have to:
-convince S-E corporate to actually give a shit again.

Your mission has been set before you.
Good luck.

Going to be real funny when we find out those are the actual graphics and its a port.

Chrono Cross didn't have Yuji Horii on board though.

All a new Chrono needs is Kato at the helm, which would be doable imo. Along with Mitsuda of course.

Please Understand. With SE, anything after PSX you have to go in with low expectations, I mean, like, REALLY low expectations and just wish for anything else to be announced...

It's not just PSX, but sure. There are numerous examples where Square Enix has teased something and built something up, only to disappoint in the end. At this point, it'd be silly to not be cynical.

Im not sure if this is related or not, but a couple if weeks ago one of the guys from podcast beyond said he checked out an unannounced game for the ps4 that he couldnt talk about for a few more weeks. I thought he said he saw it in japan also, but im not 100% sure. I wonder if it is the SE game.

I don't trust Kato alone. He's not as sharp as he used to be(Sands of Destruction and Ninja Gaiden 3). Plus, I might be the only one to think this, but part of the large appeal of Trigger over Cross was that it felt more than just one man's vision. The "Dream Team" effort gave it more charm, even in the musical department(while Uematsu's pieces were far less than Mitsuda, I honestly can't imagine CT without his songs regardless). And while I don't expect the extended group to return for a new "Dream Team" effort, I wouldn't mind some signing on to help guide the story.

Yes, one was from Sony's Japan Studio and the other was from a studio that he wasn't allowed to name. I assume this the latter.

Fair enough. Kato hasn't done anything noteworthy since then really. I hated Sands. But really, a new Chrono happening at all is a pipe dream.

For sure, it's been going on for a long time now. Even after they said they were going to "start listening to their fans" again. Yeah, hasn't happened yet....

Where is the damn hype train in this thread?

Here

So it's going nowhere then...

Man, i love Square-Enix threads xD

It still hurt me how disappointed i was with StarOcean 4 :( I loved 2 and even 3; but i couldn't stomach more than a couple of hours of SO4
