TOKYO--Dragon Quest publisher Square Enix has revealed that Code Age, first announced with the release of Dragon Quest VIII last November, will emerge as a manga series before being developed as a video game.

The first installment of Code Age will arrive in the next issue of Shonen Gangan, which arrives in Japanese bookstores February 12. Code Age's tale follows the story of youths pressured to make decisions in a world that is falling apart. "In order to survive, mankind must evolve," explains Code Age's intro.

Shonen Gangan, a monthly manga, is known for its popular Fullmetal Alchemist series, also published by Square Enix. Fullmetal Alchemist's success was based in part on a number of video games as well as an animated television series. Early signs suggest that Code Age's evolution will take a similar path.

Few details are known about the Code Age game except that it's under the direction of Yusuke Naora, who has worked on a number of Square Enix titles, including Chrono Trigger, The Bouncer, and Final Fantasy VII, VIII, and X.

Reminds me of what this guy was complaining about.

Except this guy doesn't know what the hell he's talking about. :) Fullmetal Alchemist isn't anywhere near what he's describing. The FMA manga is an self-contained continuity, the anime series and anime movie are another continuity and the video games are also a seperate continuity (the first game was made as a side story to the anime but the second game came along and connected it while showing that the entire line is now stand alone on its own continuity). He should do some research before mouthing off like a know it all. :lol

Yeah, I was talking about that with a friend of mine and we both thought it was silly.

Hey, you should write a counter-editorial to his. You know more about FMA than he does.

Really looking forward to hear more about this game. Love Naora's art!
Too bad he won't be handling the manga.

So this is the first iteration this 'Code Age' will take? the form of a video game? and then followed on by animated series, etc.? Or is there already a manga/animation out of it?

First comes manga Feb 12.
I'm guessing next comes the animation.
And finally the game, on an unspecified platform.
