First off, the selection of modes in SSX On Tour is essentially the same as those in the console version of the game. You'll have a unique version of quick play that will let you jump right into a race, but, unlike the other versions of this mode type, your race will tie into your career mode. The career mode plays about the same as the single-player game on the consoles. The single event and challenge modes will let you hone your skills on races or other feats of skill while also testing your prowess on skis. The multiplayer mode takes advantage of the PSP's Wi-Fi capabilities and lets up to four players compete against each other in ad hoc races. A nice touch is that you'll be able to pit a snowboarder against a skier to settle the eternal question of who makes a better racer once and for all. Finally, (although it's not technically a game mode) there will be what is the now-standard Pocket Traxx feature in EA's PSP games, which will let you listen to the game's soundtrack on the go.

never been a fan of the series, but i'd like to give this one a shot :O

This question doesn't neccessarily connect only to this game, but rather all of the versions of this game(because why the fuck would I want this version when I can get it for the PS2/'Box/'Cube?) but does anyone know if this game is a return to theme and style of Tricky or if it's more of the One Big Mountain stuff from 3? I personally hope the former.

looks good but i'm personally more into SBK snowboard kids DS just because the powerups were great and the hectic battles to get on the lift were hilarious sometimes.

wow EA is putting out some good stuff on PSP! I am gonna pick this up with Burnout Legends and GTA LS this fall :O

My friend bought a PSP this week and I saw it yesterday. I was totally amazed by the screen quality and how good the movies looked; too bad it came with that shitty 989 sports hockey game. I am gonna get one real soon.

Good, finally a PSP game I can look foward to. I have been waiting for a good PSP game since launch, I'm getting this for sure, looks much better than I'd imagined. This fall there are simply too many games for me too buy and the Xbox 360... I'm going to be one broke ass gamer...

There is only one thing that can kill this game, and that is load time. EA BETTER WORK HARD FOR THE LOAD TIMES ON ALL THEIR PSP GAMES FROM NOW ON!!!

depending on several different factors, i may choose this one over the console, or i may buy this one first.

i find myself playing more and more and more hand held games

Are the tracks and stuff going to be the same as On Tour's? If so I'm passing. I'd rather have this on console. If not I'm on board.

GTA:LCS
Hot Shots (still don't have it)
Virtua Tennis
Burnout
Guilty Gear: Judgement
SFA: Zero

Breath of Fire III
Coded Arms

Star Soldier
and Need for Speed: Most Wanted also looks pretty interesting.

Ghostbuster UMD
Sin City UMD

Looks great. Shows that EA is DSing the PSP Madden.

But it just seems pointless to me. I'll get this on Xbox. :\

Oh, sweet baby Jesus!

Just last week, it occured to me how awesome it would be to see an SSX game on PSP.

Here it is, and it looks great! :)

After playing (a lot) of SSX3 lately I have to say this looks dull. It lacks the flashiness that SSX3 is so full of.
And with only one shoulder button in each side doing tricks will probably feel weird :(

Actually, if you read the article, they mention that they still have yet to add in a lot of the particle effects and lighting that make the game look so unique. It's coming...

Looks great. The more 'washed out' look is unfortunatelly the whole theme of the new SSX. Console versions have the same kind of thing going on.

That's good. After reading some of the replies I was sure that's it (with everybody saying how good this looks).
Did they say something about the blur? It looks out of place :\

Looks hot...erm, uh, cold I mean.

I love the SSX series. If I pick it up on PSP I'll probably pass on the console versions though. I'll have to decide what to do with that.

What are EA Big trying to do?! Kill the magic SSX had?!
If this turns out like Burnout I'll pass this up. I got my Burnout fix with 3 last september and I really don't want anything like that for quite some time.
Maybe it'll turn out good :( But I can't see how with less tricks.

Another thing added to the series is the Burnout-like speed boost/blur.

They've always had blur, though, at least when you boost.

Looks good. If it has good load times, I might just pick it up.

That's why you get a big memory card ready. Ape Escape and Mercury both became much better after pulling the data off of the UMD and using a launcher. The load times in those games were bad enough that I didn't want to play them...but now, I'm enjoying them much more.

Still, I'd prefer good loadtimes off the UMD (which can be done, obviously).

If there is a built in feature to cache a game on a memory stick, then I say bring it on, I have a 1gb sandisk. Though somehow, while this would have been the coolest feature evar, I have a feeling this isn't kosher.

I mean load times off the disk, how the PSP was meant to be played. I don't mind moderate load times, so long as it I'm not waiting forever like some of these PSP games (untold legends, I'm looking at you).

They are going with nu-rock soundtrack, much like in BO3 it seems, and grungy style. Yeah, I'm not too happy about it either.

It seems more emphasized this time around. In the old games I can say I've barely noticed it, in the new SSX trailer, it's very visible.

Well, you will be able to rip any game and use the loader for it, that much is pretty obvious at this point, I'd say.

Well, it was pretty heavy in the original SSX (and looked great). They toned it down a LOT for Tricky and SSX3...
