There's a delicious mom and pop bakery near me that blows Krispy Kreme and Dunkin out of the water. My only issue is fresh donuts are so mushy. To me it feels like eating undercooked dough. But let them sit for a day or two and the bread actually requires chewing. The donut can be pulled apart and not mush in my fingers.

If I want to eat donuts immediately Dunkin serves them stale. They just sit in the open air getting to the perfect consistency.

Krispy Kreme bout at the grocery store are usually stale. I'll check the sell by date and get the oldest ones.

You're not wrong actually. Just like fresh bread or anything flour made if its hot or warm, it's very unhealthy to eat. I mean in general flour isnt good for you, but even worse when its still warm/fresh.

When I worked in a restaurant in high school, we would deep fry bagels then cover them in sugar. Basically a knock off bagel. Tasted exactly like one as well.

A few year ago on a job, my foreman brought in doughnuts every week or two from a fancy place in town. He was vegan so the donuts were from a vegan donut shop. I found them a little doughy compared to normal donuts but they were fucking fantastic otherwise.

If I lived closer I'd be fatter.

Seems most like fresh hot Krispy Kreme that don't require teeth. Just gums to mush those things down I've got a maple glazed I'll leave on the counter till it's nice and firm

I can't relate on the donut front, seriously gross, but I prefer flat diet coke to a properly fizzy one. Just tastes better for some reason.

Lol...whoops! I did not! Meant to say when we deep fried a bagel, it was like a knock off donut. When coated with sugar after deep frying, tasted exactly like a sugar coated donut.
This wasn't a menu item. It was just something we did for ourselves in the prep area.
