Star Wars Republic Commando:anyone else liking it??

So I just picked up SW:Republic Commando and I am really liking this game....

I am a pritty big fan of Star Wars in general (newest movies suxx, though) and although SW games are traditionally awful, SW Battlefront and now RC makes me think that someone @ LucalArts is being a little more selective with whom they give the SW license???...I hope, I hope..

At any rate, I am not really a hardcore fan of first person squad shooters but they really hold your hand throughout the squad team gameplay and it never seems to be cumbersome or confusing even for a greenhorn like me :)

Graphics are fine and the music and sound is fab, of course, but I am really liking how the levels are set up so far.....linear, but then again, the team gameplay necessitates this..

I am early in the game but it seems pretty balanced sofar...there are parts that are pretty hectic (as they should be) but not so maddening that you are running around in a frenzy trying to micromanage every single move of your team in order to move forward in the game....

Don't get me wrong...there is quite a bit of babysitting going on in SW:RC but the AI is decent enough to work things out well enough for themselves in many instances.......they often "take the initiative" so to speak, of the things I would like them to do before I have a chance to do it........

Again, I haven't gone too far into the game, but it seems pretty well done so far, and I am enjoying quite a bit :)

Any other fans of this game?

Yeah I picked it up on release, I have only played a little, but it's been really good so far.

Keep meaning to get back to it to play more actualy.

I found this game to be quite entertaining. I'd probably rent it again for sure.

The presentation really makes this game stand out from any other game in the genre. Apart from that, I found it rather generic.

Just finished it on Sunday. Loved it. Havent tried the multiplayer yet. Thought the combination of Halo like control and aiming coupled with the squad action (Which wasnt over done or over needed) was a nice mix. Would have liked some cutscenes and a little seeing Grevious in action.

RC is a great romp. Even more suprising is that LucasArts created the game in-house. There hasn't been a lot of backlash for the game. Most people I have talked to are enjoying it. The problem is that RC doesn't really do anything to seperate itself from the pack. The squad play is infinitely better in R6III. The multiplayer is very generic (although fun). The gameplay is very linear. It's a standard FPS with a Star Wars license. Which is OK... just don't expect anything groundbreaking.

It's a damn fun game, but really I think most people should give it a rent or wait for it to drop $20. LucasArts could have gotten away with the $50 price tag if the game was released in 2002 or early 2003. I think it is a bit much to charge now though.

I'm glad I rented it. It was way too run 'n gun and not enough Rainbow Six if you know what I mean; your blaster felt more like a spitball shooter than a powerful laser rifle and the tactics involved were really minimal at best. The whole thing just felt too guided and automated. And the small amount of online I played was terrible.

Yeah I love this game. Lucasarts really pulled off the squad based stuff really well. The chatter that goes on is great and you are forced to use the squad the right way or you just get slaughtered later on. Music is great in this game too. The online features are a little weak though, they better make a sequel.

I really really enjoyed it : D much much more than Halo2 actually, it was something fresh and new.

Being able to actually trust the NPC's is a great experience -- the whole game felt like you were really there with those guys.

I liked the demo quite a bit and know I'll like the game, but am holding off until maybe it hits $20-$30. Simply an issue of replay value vs. price for someone who will likely only play through the apparently shortish single-player campaign once.

Man are you guys going to hate
the incredibly abrupt and unrewarding ending.

Overall I enjoyed but I'd probably rate it at slightly above average consdering the whole package is lacking. I had a few issues with the movement and limited tactics of the game. I think it's worth a good rental however.

i enjoyed it alot.. its not gonna change anyone's life, but its a fun fps. i agree its not worth $50 though.. maybe $35 or so. The last level was a blast for me, I just felt super badass mowing down wave after wave of bugs and 'bots.. and the ending? When Yoda says jump, you say how high.

I know that's why I hated the ending.
Just as the action was going at a fevered pitch, the levels were becoming more focused, the tactical situations were becoming more demanding and the situations were becoming more important, BAM, game over and you lose a squad mate. Damnit I wish they spent more time adding more content.
