Total guess, they use it the first time like that and that sequence of all the rock surface collapsing back down and them trying to escape through it is the result. They then use it the right side up for Alderaan.

"chance to make a real difference" has to be the most overused trailer line by now, and some of the dialogue was a little awkward but overall I think Edwards is giving us better characters than in Godzilla

I'm onboard
