No clue, I haven't messed around with it. Maybe combining lots of ingredients to make higher quality food? I dunno, and all of the wikis are outdated on the subject.

They got nuked to "guest" status which means their posts can no longer be found, that's all I know. That usually means they cheesed off the big cheese.

I've just taken to eating canned food that doesn't spoil. The system could probably use more tweaking and benefits for cooking better food. It just doesn't seem worth it, even though I have a farm planet with animals and sprinklers set up.
Maybe someone will make a food mod to really spruce it up.
Higher level food dramatically increases the hunger bar. Mostly food made from multiple ingredients. One really good recipe that doesnt use much is Bom Bom's, you can craft them using sugar, and then use two bom bom's, to make bom bom bom's , wich fill about half the hunger bar. But I agree they need to tweak the hunger a bit.

Yeah, I've made the bon bons before. Yet canned food is just easier to get and doesn't expire.

I ended up doing the same thing. Felt better off selling cooked food or crops and just buying the cans. I never found a way to preserve your food on the go, and the cans restore a lot on the hunger meter while also never going bad. I never got sprinklers though. In light of how hunger works, I think I'll just play in casual mode. I'm not really a fan of all my items dropping when I die either, so that works out.
The unofficial GAF server will be up, currently screwing around with a spare computer that I'll try and use for the actual server. The server wont be up IMMEDIATELY when 1.0 hits, I will most likely be working at the time, so I wont be able to get it running until after I get back, or the next morning.
Knowing that hat there will be one is good enough. I'll fool around in SP for a bit until the actual one is up then.

Can't wait to see you all on there, this should be a lot of fun! I have less than zero experience with this game or Terraria so whatever I'll be doing will be small.... Like an isolated wilderness camp or something... You tower / mansion builders are insane lol

Are they added workshop support? Would be nice to get some easy access to mods. I haven't tried any mods so far.

Steam says I have played it for 9 hours, but that has been so long ago. I barely remember what I did in this game.
I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone running around together. I think I got into the Terraria server late, after people had fallen away from the game. It'll be nice to see everyone diving in all at once, building stuff.
The nice thing about Starbound vs. Terraria in terms of building is that there's tons of planets out there to build on. When HaRyu had the terraria server up, the fact that it was one world meant everyone was kind of building on top of each other in places.
My plan right now is to build a landing pad for everyone on the starting planet (assuming that still applies) and then find myself a cluster of planets somewhere nearby and build.
What does that make a world-builder like me? =p

Gonna be playing through the Mass Effect trilogy. After that I think I'll be craving more sci-fi. Then starbound lands.

That's something that happens in No Man's Sky, in Starbound everyone begins at a centralized spawn point.
Unless something has changed, in multi-player everyone is on the same planet to start. It makes finding each other easier. In the past, we've set up a little outpost with basic supplies / weapons / etc. and called it the GAF Homeworld.

Must have missed that because I used a character I had made in singleplayer.
Some time Friday. Since the devs are in London, we might luck out and get it early in the evening, but that's just speculation on my part.
I am in Taiwan =p
So if they release it in the morning London time it would be in the evening for you I guess. If they release it later be prepared to maybe not play it on Friday.

Just delete and make a new character should be enough I believe.
Or if you want to go a little more nuclear (but not too much), just go into the Starbound folder and delete the player/planet/universe saves.
Blog post today says 1.0 will go live at 1pm Eastern / 10am Pacific.

I've always wanted to give this game a try and now that it's actually coming out I'm thinking of picking it up!
Are there any videos detailing how much things are changing in 1.0? I actually have no idea how the game actually works. I think I remember hearing the same artist that worked on Terraria was also working on this but is that pretty much it when it comes to similarities to that game?

Gonna aim for sometime tonight; it's mostly written (had a cool idea I wanted to try that required some revisions) and the visuals are pretty easy, so I've just gotta plug everything in, more or less. I've spent most of today getting stuff done so my weekend is clear.
Should be a launch trailer released sometime soon that will probably cover everything in 1.0.
Yeah; the guy who did the pixel art for Terraria left when Redigit stopped development; that's the only connection. Starbound is (pardon the pun) lightyears ahead of Terraria in everything except depth on content (which is to be expected since they've been adding stuff to Terraria all this time).

This has been a fun thread for the past three years, many of us have been waiting a long, long time for this. Here is kudos to all of you. I expect great things from the new OT tomorrow, can’t wait to read about everyone’s adventures and to see all of the pics that will be populating it!
