Undecided. Will go the PC route so GP is an option. You?Are you going to actually buy the game or play it off of Game Pass? You have an Xbox?

i mean MS uses 50GB discs so even if it comes with one it wont run, its likely a 75GB odd download on top
so a disc is kinda pointless
Didn’t the same thing happen with Redfall before Bethesda clarified that the standard version will have a disc after all?
Presumably for the same reason the CE versions of HFW and GOWR did the same thing: they want owners of both consoles to buy it and since one of them has no disk drive the code is the easiest option. So hold on, the more expensive collectors edition DOESNT contain the disc but the cheaper standard version does?
What?
05 pages and no "its a creative choice" joke ? You guys disappoint me!
Probably just an error
I'm buying it on Steam. Primarily because of the mods likeGHG mentioned.
They really should use a 100GB UHD for Starfield or at least put it on 2 discs like they did with Microsoft Flight Simulator. They use 50GB discs for cross-gen / smart delivery games, the console can read 100GB UHDs as well.
Jedi Survivor copies a ~68, 70 something GB from the disc and rest is downloaded.
Yes, there are also conflicting messages from different Bethesda support account, one said it will have discs, the other said it won't, and the one which said it won't has deleted their post.
So let's see.
Yeah this is definitely the same nonsense from the ABK thread.Because absent the acquisition this was never happening for a high risk, new AAA IP from a company financially struggling and wanting to capture every sale possible.
It is only resulted in an anti-consumer situation because the EU approved the acquisition of a mega publisher, and had this been listed as an issue, remedies would have been sought.
All the more reason why I’m leaning towards going back to my roots as a PC only gamer after this generation. If I’m going to be forced into a digital only existence, I’d rather do it where there’s multiple storefronts and competition than on walled garden platforms where they control the distribution of keys and dictate pricing/sales.Whether it happens with Starfield is pointless because this is the eventuality for most if not all games.

What? This was advertised as such as soon as it was announced so no surprise. This is what happens when you have digital only consoles available, developers do not want to limit their audience.
I think it's a good enough reason to feel positive about it, but I don't think it's what has driven this decision. That's not a good enough reason. Maybe better recyclability options should exist instead?
I love how MS/Zenimax basically went 'Oops all Mattrick!' with recent releases and Gamepass (no second-hand and no game ownership) but media and even some customers are okay with that.

Well, it seems now it just game codes in a shiny box.xbox games aren’t releasing exclusively to Gamepass and are still sold at retail?
I mean it's not hard to comprehend. If you make the collectors edition with an included physical disk, then customers with a Series S cannot use it. Therefore, it limits the audience. What?
Wtf am I reading. Seriously. How is releasing a physical copy limiting an audience? Is Phil like in your home stopping you from pressing the purchase button on the Xbox Storefront if a game has a physical copy?
They are yours if you have a disc. With no disc the resell and borrowing of this game will be super low.The future is digital, with no way to trade, give away or sell your games. And they are not really yours either.
This isn’t collectors edition though? This is a standard release.I mean it's not hard to comprehend. If you make the collectors with a physical disk, then customers with a Series S cannot use it. Therefore, it limits the audience.
It somehow doesn't affect the PS5 when PS5 DE is a thing, but ok.I mean it's not hard to comprehend. If you make the collectors with an included physical disk, then customers with a Series S cannot use it. Therefore, it limits the audience.
Good. Kill physical already.

Sometimes your brain sees what it wants to see. I thought it was referring to the collectors edition specifically. My bad, we were talking about two different things. It somehow doesn't affect the PS5 when PS5 DE is a thing, but ok.
If not the environment then money. They could save money from not buying plastic/paper and paying manufacturing or shipping costs.
If they already sell games digitally then why not just go all digital? Plus, forcing people to buy digitally means you control the price. If you want to charge $70-80 then you can if it's the only place to purchase it. You decide when it goes on sale and for how much.
AND you wont lose money on second hand copies or sharing. 1 disc sale could be $70 but over time multiple people might play that disc. Say that disc passes through 5 people then would you rather make $70 or $350? If it passes through 10 people then you could get $700!
I know Sony had a laugh at Microsoft with the second hand game video in 2013 but don't think for a second Sony (or anyone else) give a shit about you. If they can make more money off you then they will. The only reason Sony made fun of Microsoft back then was because it benefited them.
This thread once again proving why digital zealots are some of the absolute worst. Great for the ignore list though.
Anyway, between this and the 30FPS lock, there's really no reason to buy it on console.
Only standard version will have a physical disc![]()

There are some DCs that run on green energy 24/7. Most of the major networks are already running 50% green and I believe both MS and Google have made public statements about moving to 24/7 green power. Maybe not entirely on air, though there is some of that, but on solar and hydro as well.
And I don’t understand why some people are all to happy to reduce options and give even more control to corporate copyright holders, yet here you are.The disk is dead. I don't know why some people are holding on to it for so long. It's too slow.
Wow. You figured all that out about me from saying disks are slow. You should profile for the FBIAnd I don’t understand why some people are all to happy to reduce options and give even more control to corporate copyright holders, yet here you are.
Let's ship a code in a plastic box that holds a code on a piece of paper that practically becomes useless to them and then ship a collector's edition with plastic and polyester trinkets. We won't ship a game disc though just in case it ends up in the ocean because we're worried about the environment. To your point though, you can't just recycle things and reach a net zero point. Recycling is better than not, but it's not as good as just not making the thing in the first place.
Just like paid online and horse armor weren't slippery slopes.Hey, remember when they said that going digital would have driven down games' prices, and you all believed them?
You want Starfield CBBE and Schlongs of Starfield, admit it

Btw, this is most likely an error. Or the tweet was about a PC release.
Memes apart, I don't think Starfield will be a digital-only release.

Getting a new PlayStation or XBOX game in physical form at launch is always like 25% cheaper than MSRP where I live. Getting it in digital form at launch is always MSRP.Hey, remember when they said that going digital would have driven down games' prices, and you all believed them?
Nothing. I have running it on Xbox and PC. Although, i still like UNP better when it coms to realism. What's wrong with CBBE?

Maybe reaching "net zero point" isn't a realistically achievable goal and shouldn't be a target to reach in the first place, then?.
Seriously, some of these zero carbon emissions and carbon footprint goals are just seemingly too strict and restrictive.
The existence of UNP only compatible clothes. What's wrong with CBBE?
