Stargate SG-1 season finale: "Moebius, part II"

This thread contains spoilers.

So has anyone seen "Moebius, part I"? I've watched it two times now, and I must admit that at first I thought it was weak, on the second viewing I loved it (I also remembered that season 7's "Lost City, part I" sucked).

What do you think of all this? How will they ever restore everything to exactly the way it was? Or is "Moebius" the path to the 'new enemy' we will be seeing in season 9? Will SG-1 unintentionally unleash new villains? It's weird, time-travel episodes are always hard to do. In the 'new' 2005 (with geek-Daniel, geek-Carter and fisherman-O'Neill), the Atlantis expedition has of course not taken place, hell they don't even have a Stargate. I'm hoping that the original SG-1 returns, but
apparently everyone except Daniel dies in part II
. Man they've turned both Daniel and Carter into geeks, I hope they change them back for season 9.

"Moebius, part II", Tuesday on Sky One in the UK, and at your favorite torrentsite a few hours after it airs.

Can't wait for the torrent to go up. But to be honest part one fell below my expectations. I didn't think that
the show's focus would shift to the alternate timeline so fast with nerdy sam and even nerdier daniel, I wanted to see more of Ra and 5000 year old Egypt. It was kind of painful seeing alternate timeline daniel take that abuse from Mckay, the real Daniel would have put his ass in place. :p

Can't wait to see Apophis back. It's been too long.

Obviously they set the timeline right because,
the season finale of Atlantis had them us the ZPM from Egypt to get a new team to Atlantis.

Oh, of course, I forgot about that. And "General O'Neill sends his congratulations on a job well done. You are relieved." also says a lot. :)

MoxManiac: you do know that they're gonna go to
Chulak and the past (Egypt 3000 B.C.) again[/spoilers], don't you? As with "Lost City", the first part is the setup and the second part is all-out action. And it should be awesome.

Jack was already made General before they left for Atlantis. Also this is totally not waht the rumors said this episode was going to be about. The rumors had them wiping out the G'ould. The next season was supposed to have a new enemy threatening Earth.

just watched this in the UK. Nice way to end the season, and I'm guessing the last few episodes were laid out just in case there wasn't a season 9.

BTW, Shadowred you are a c**t. I looked at your spoiler because I've seen Moebius I&II. But I haven't seen the end of Atlantis yet (its a little behind in the UK), so thanks for spoiling that :/

Uh, yeah I know Jack has been General since "New Order". He appeared as General in Atlantis "Rising". I know all this.

And next season there will be a new enemy, yeah. And basically, they did wipe out the Goa'uld. There are only a few minor System Lords left, and Ba'al. The Goa'uld no longer pose a real threat.

I don't know if Jack and Sam are together. But "Moebius" is hard to understand. The last scene in Jack's backyard was the ending of "Threads", the episode before (just a little bit different). So in our timeline, "Moebius" never happened, and "Threads" was the last thing SG-1 did before the season ended. So, "Threads" is the REAL finale of season 8.

Jack will be promoted to Head of Homeworld Security and will probably quit the Air Force and be a civilian leader over at the Pentagon. Col. Carter will be away for the first five episodes of season 9 (still unknown where she is going, maybe aboard the Daedalus) and Col. Cameron Mitchell (Ben Browder) will lead SG-1. Also, in season 9, SG-1 will be exploring the history of the Ancients a lot more than before.

I've heard rumors that the producers are looking to expand the show's mythology (which is primarily based on ancient Egyptian history) with more of Earth's legend. Particularly the story of King Arthur keeps appearing everywhere, and in this story arc, Merlin was an Ancient etc. I think it's bullshit, but you never know.

Oh, and about the actual show ("Moebius, part II"), I liked it. It was good seeing Major Kawalsky, General Hammond, APOPHIS (woohoo) and First Prime Teal'c again. The kiss was cool. I just thought it was a bit rushed, and Ra is supposedly the most powerful Goa'uld of all and we didn't see a lot of him. Too bad, but still a good season finale.

what makes SG-1, for me, is the relationships and interplay between all the characters, mixed with the story arc and not taking things too seriously.

Will season 9 be OK with no Sam for a while, and even less O'Neill?

It was pretty funny that Daniel (alternate) dies again. Poor guy can't catch a break.

I think season 9 might be okay. Ben Browder is a likable guy. I never got into farscape but I always liked him. I think he could fit in well. We'll see.

Supposedly the new enemy will be the Ashewen, the race from the episodes 2010 and 2001. The race that SG1 met on some world that helped them defeat the G'ould and created a paradise, but they were secretly causing the people of Earth to go sterile so they could take over. SG1 of 2010 sent a note back to 2000 telling them to blacklist that world. They then showed up in another episode called 2001. Also supposedly Hammond dies, that is why Jack gets to take over Homeworld security. as for the ending of moebius 2. It's just showing that some things have changed. At the end of threads as well as Moebius 1 Jack says there are no fish in his lake. In this time line though there are fish. Carter will be gone from the beginning of the season because in real life she is knocked up.
