How far into the development is the game?
We have about 12 months to go, and we've been at it for over 12 already.
Can we expect graphics on a par with SG1's 806 Avatar?
The work we did for Avatar was prerendered so there will be some lighting detail that won't come across. All the models however, were the ones we will use in the game. We had all the actors faces scanned, and that's what you see in the DJ and Sam characters in Avatar.
Which platforms will the game be released on?
We're looking at PS2, X-Box and PC.
How many team members do you have working on the project?
We have about 55 people in house on the project plus a number of external contractors
When do you anticipate the game will start the marketing process?
It's quite possible you'll see a teaser site late September or early October
Will there be a Multiplayer option? Online gaming?
Yep. Can't go into details though. We have some very cool stuff planned though...
What kind of features can gamers expect?
You'll have to wait for those too...
Has fan opinion in any way influnced the process?
Not really. The only real "suggestions" we've had are actually for what type of game to make it. FPS, RTS, RPG etc. We're definitely working on an FPS for the 1st game, but it's certainly an FPS with some key differences. But the important thing to remember is that our license is for a number of years, is not restricted to just one game and includes Atlantis. So I think you could reasonably expect us to cover all the bases over time.
Having said that... We are massive fans of the show ourselves. So any suggestions that we have had in terms of gameplay, are mostly things we've been planning on anyway. I think that fans of the show are gonna get a real kick out of what we're doing story wise, let alone gameplay. Our story really taps in to some of the large themes from the show over the last few years.
Will and of the SG1 characters be playable?
All SG-1 character will be playable.
Will any of the actors be suppling voices for the game?
Can't answer that one at this stage. It's something we're trying to get sorted out at the moment. It is certainly our intention to use the actors.
When will some screenshots become available?
Not sure really. As I mentioned though, there will be a teaser site in the coming months.
Will gamers see/play any missions/levels that come from any SG1 episodes?
Hmmm, I won't answer that one specifically, but you could take a look at the 2nd part of my answer to question 8 and take an educated guess...
What games have inspired the designers of this game?
As you can imagine, between 55 people, we have a lot of influences... Different games inspire for different reasons though.
Can you give us any information about the storyline?
It's all very Secret Squirrel at the moment.
Have any of the writers of Stargate SG1 been invloved in the making of this game?
To varying degrees, yes. We have a good relationship with the guys at MGM and Kawoosh (the production company that makes Stargate). We've talked with the guys there to make sure that our storyline is as up to date as possible. We're trying to set our story just before the end of Season 8, so that it's as current as possible. Obviously, we began this process before the writers knew what was going to happen at the end of S8. So there's been some guess work, that subsequently needed some tweaking along the way from our end.
