Stargate - We're missing a decent title

Literally just finished atlantis on netflix and I would pay good money to have a mass effect type stargate game set in the pegasus galaxy.

I've been slowly recording footage of the Alliance. I've had access to it a few years now, didn't buy it otherwise it would be on the net already.

There is some other, crappier footage out there, but this is about as good as it gets.

The game really isn't even an alpha, there are entire levels that weren't even developed at the time. The game crashes, a lot, taking me hours to finish some levels that would take a fraction of that.

The PC build is the start of the show. The Xbox build is far chopped up and really not good. The PS2 build was basically a publisher request and was never going to happen.

Wow, thanks for the video! Extremely interesting material

Am I the only one who liked Universe?

Loved it. Felt it was really gonna go somewhere but then it ended. SGA also great. Want to see SG1 but not available on local Netflix. The Expanse could hopefully fill that inside void of missing a good space opera.

Games based on SG I have hard to see that I'd like though. Mass Effect is probably hard to beat.

We've had some fantastic games from (...) Star Trek (...) that have done the whole universe justice.
Tell me more about it. I can't think of much other than shooting games (disgusting in the context of Star Trek), weak to mediocre adventures and an MMO, none of which dealing properly with the social and moral questions that make Star Trek special.

Eh... not really? A lot of the ideas/concepts aside from cool stuff like the diving into the sun stuff and use of real science felt like rehashes of Atlantis ideas or were really dumb in the context of a series (the whole "god signal" thing that could've easily been an artifact of the Big Bang).

Actually the diving into the sun was one of the worst ideas on universe when they tried to use that momentum to get home. ( thank god it didn't work )

But aside from that every new thing , even if it was inspired by the original stargate or atlantis was well handled. much of it had potential , it's just that we never saw the pay-off of them. ( those plot device couldn't possibly have been solved within 2 season , especially when season 1 was one of total discovery and they didn't even have control of the ship )

I really want a good Stargate game as well. Something like Mass Effect would be right up my alley. A game like XCOM would work as well but I'd be more interested in a Mass Effect type game.

Sadly we'll probably never get anything like that and if we do it would probably be a result of a movie reboot needing to do well, and by that point it would be completely different to the universe we know today.

But let's be honest, going through a Stargate would be the most badass loading screen ever.

I'd love a Mass Effect style game in the Stargate universe. I really enjoy SG-1 and Atlantis. I tried to enjoy Universe (admittedly didn't see S2) but it felt like it was trying to be edgy for the sake of it, to fit in with TV of that time.

I think a story driven RPG could be very exciting and work very well. Everything is set up for it really SG Command as your base. Atlantis as a secondary area (depending on timeline). Running missions through the Stargate, even small ones. Setting research projects and occasionally defending the SGC. Occasional missions set on earth to counter shady secret groups.

Here's an idea you don't hear too often.

Stargate Shelter.

Build your SGC, send people on offworld missions, all that fun stuff. Much more simple than a huge project, and could be worthwhile.

We almost had one. SG1 The Alliance looked pretty damn good at the time. I was so crushed when that game got cancelled. Of all the cancelled games in the world, this is the one I would choose to revive if I could.

Same. My favorite TV series of all time. (sad face)

I was highly interested in Stargate Worlds (MMO) as well, until it got cancelled after the developer's bankruptcy.

+1.

As a big fan of the franchise, this is wasted opportunities.
The IP is cursed when it comes to video games, though.

Still some hope one day, a company will get the IP for a bargain price, and come up with a good game.

I remember renting and playing the heck of the Genesis game back in the day. It was the only game I ever made up a level select code for on the fly that worked.

I had a friend who was working for the MMO developer that tried to make that Stargate MMO. He never told me much about it, beyond how he wasn't getting paid for three months before the devs folded.

Sadly, I never got to play it, and it has since been removed due to the developer closing their doors. :(

This is still up though by fans getting the servers back up...

Honestly, you can get most of what made it good in my eyes from youtube videos, just find someone who did a lets play and watch them all!

EDIT: Oh I should also mention the author Sally Malcolm has stated she is working on a Novelization of it, if you wanted to look into that. No idea on release though!

But, but, I want to control them, lol.

That will have to do, so I will check them out when I get home. Thanks.
