Steam accounts for 1/3 of Capcom's revenue.

It could probably be better if they stopped half-assing it on PC. I was interested in both DD2 and MHW until the last minute mtx nonsense with DD2 and the MHW benchmark running like shit.

The console versions of those games are absolute shit too (at least on the base Ps5/SX), so it's not like they are only half assing it on PC.
But people on both console and PC rewarded them with like 10 million sales of Wilds in a month. So the Capcom audience sent the message loud and clear that they couldn't care less about the terrible optimization. Expect more games with dated visuals and horrible performance in the future.

Yup. The message capcom received (especially from PC gamers) was that MH wilds was perfectly optimized.

But they've also been releasing their back catalogue which are absent on Playstation and is mentioned in the article.

And that's where most of the percentage, this is actually a bit disingenuous because people are gonna think it's new releases only.

Steam will go down in history as being the first platform to offer refunds.
Removing the risk along with the need for watching reviews and trusting other people's opinions on what games to buy increases game sales.
It's not hard to imagine how much better games will sell on PSN when PlayStation moves to the same policy.
Until then, anyone on the fence about buying a multiplat game will buy it on Steam as opposed to their PS4/5.

ArtHands is currently incommunicado, so I thought I'll cover for him.

>Things get even more handsome when just looking at Capcom's digital content business, which excludes stuff like arcades, with Steam accounting for 42.1% of total sales (thanks Gamebiz.jp). In comparison, sales of software on PlayStation now account for less than 10% of the total, with Capcom omitting the exact % due to it being below that threshold.

This is what my locked thread highlighted. When it's traditional game sales PC accounts for 42% of total sales vs less than 10% for Playstation.

So 2/3 on PS ?
No 42% of game sales (not counting arcades) is Steam, less than 10% is Playstation.

Odd that there is no Xbox or Switch revenue in their report. But damn. They are killing it on Steam. I'm very curious how their revenue went down YoY on PS with MHW release.

This is the report:

Xbox and Switch are likely below playstation. World and Wilds sold more than Rise and World and wilds are not on Switch as aren't most of Capcoms AAA games.

Kind of an indicator they should do a better job with their ports in the future. There is no excuse, their sales would objectively be better if they didn't have those problems, and this will hurt their future games potential sales.

Even the console versions of Dragon's Dogma 2 and Monster Hunter Wilds have technical problems.

No that's referring to digital entertainment sales which excludes stuff like arcade games and pachinko but includes consoles and PC game sales.
Look at the source. The source is dubious at best since it's missing. Capcom tend to split package games on PS and full game downloads. I've seen nothing to confirm those splits so far.

The source article is in Japanese and only talks about the PC and Playstation segment of the business. Hence why the English articles quoting it do the same. The article does have actual sales numbers and a chart from Capcom that is in Japanese

No it doesn't, the source is dubious and having just digged further into this here is the explanation why the numbers and splits are bogus and what the true "source" of this incorrect split is:
