For those that have played Crusader Kings II, how difficult is it to get into? I like strategy games a lot but I have gotten the impression that this game is rather difficult to get into? Any information or impressions would be appreciate.
There's an initial hump to get over where you won't have a clue whats going and unfortunately the in-game tutorials aren't very good and will only take you so far. Getting over that initial wall is the hardest part, once you understand how everything works and you have a basic understanding of the game's systems its not too hard. I'd strongly advise that you watch one of the video tutorials on youtube where they run you through a basic game session with explanations, that's what it took for everything to finally click for me- I normally hate video tutorials, they're long long and rambling but the text tutorials just weren't working for me (don't worry, you don't have to watch all the videos, just the first few are enough to get you going). Watching someone else play and describe what was happening as it went along helped a lot in this particular instance.
Also be aware that some of the game rules and UI layout may have changed slightly between the versions shown in the videos and the current build.
This is the video series that I used to figure stuff out and as noted above, pick an Irish county as your starting point so things are more manageable.
Just finished the lost and damned, enjoyed it better than the main game, and being in a biker gang is more interesting than bowling with cousin.
Time for Gay Tony, heard good things about it!
Gay Tony's missions were great but narrative I couldn't see a reason for why Tony & Luis were doing what they were doing. L&D was much better in that regard.
