Ubisoft is Removing Games from UPlay Library (Bought 3rd Party)

edit: huh, Everything's there. It appears that almost all my uplay games were bought on steam, or as physical disk.

Can't access the link at work, but I got my copy of Child of Light from a retailer, and FC4 from Origin, are those 2 games affected?

Far Cry 4 is not the only game to have gone missing, some players have reported many other games created by the company to have been removed also such as Watchdogs. Ubisoft may be doing this as a countermeasure to insure that no games are purchased with stolen keys and maybe a way of them tackling the massive piracy problem in gaming.

Sorry, my bad. I thought "3rd party websites" included Origin, Amazon and GMG, but it really seems they're only revoking keys bought from G2A and Ebay. I'm okay with that.

Searched around and this is where I saw a SEGA community manager mentioning that they operate based on territory:

The Chinese territory is covered by our Japanese office, so if you see localizations for these territories its based on Japanese business deals. Our company operates based on territory, which is mostly SEGA West and Sega of Japan. Hope this makes sense.

The quote was not about Valkyria Chronicles, was about the Chinese localization of Shining Resonance, but I thought it made sense about VC being locked because it depended on SEGA of Japan, I guess...

Right. I'm just saying that there are cheaper keys to be bought on G2A and who knows where they're coming from. That's the whole problem with that marketplace. They don't throw up disclaimers about how the shit you're buying could be stolen and not everyone considers that sort of thing anyway. Hell, I didn't realize such a thing happened until very recently when a friend of mine had his Origin account hacked and the person who did it bought up every recent Ubisoft game and nothing else. If they are removing keys from Uplay they likely have some sort of contact with Origin in regards to fraudulent sales and the keys purchased from Origin in those sales.

Unlikely, RU codes are limited to Russian language only. And those could legal, so that would be pretty idiotic.

IIRC i read that you are required to run a remote-application on your PC so that they can activate the product remotely on your steam/origin/uplay account. If thats true i don't know why anyone would buy from them. But chances are that I'm wrong about this, because this just sounds too weird.

In-Home streaming has always worked well for me, but starting this weekend I have been getting slow encode/slow capture messages (and <10 FPS streams) constantly. The only real change I made to my laptop and desktop was upgrading from Norton 360 to Norton Security.

It's got 4 colours though. That makes it quite a lot more expensive to print (the mold itself) than the standard print tee.

Probably doesn't matter much if your print quantity is large enough, but its enough to cost 5 bucks more if you order something like ~20 shirts from a printing company.

From what I played of it (15 or so hours on PS3) I'd say it was definitely worth it. I'm no expert on ARPGs though, so maybe compared to others it's not all that good. I enjoyed it though.

Unpopular opinion time. I'm really digging Ryse. Sure it's a bit simplified in terms of mechanics (although more engaging than Mordor was for me) but you do have to mix things up and can't just wail on the attack button. Plus the swords and sandals setting lends itself to the perfect Sunday afternoon (which it is over here) jam. Oh yeah and it's a looker too so it certainly scratches that itch. Shock horror when I've finished the single player might even try out the multi, with randoms!

This is what I said about it when I beat it awhile ago:

Just beat Dungeon Siege III. You can add it to the pile of evidence of Obsidian's many frustrated ambitions. Very open ended ending that basically said "Hey Square Enix, how about having us make this a regular thing, huh? Can you say Trilogy? Or maybe just more DLC?"

It's a weird game. Compared to DS2 it's very consolized, reminds me a lot of the Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance games. But maybe even a bit simpler? But it also has Obsidian's storytelling chops all over it, even reminding me a bit of Alpha Protocol in how all your decisions come together for the ending reel.

Which is a bit at odds with the multiplayer aspect of the game, in my opinion. I guess I can't fault them for trying something new, but in my experience anytime you play with more than two people cutscenes tend to get skipped. So all the achievements for agreeing or disagreeing on dialog choices seem...Optimistic, I guess.

Role playing game, but designed heavily around multiplayer. Role playing game, but ability and gear management is pretty shallow. Weird game. Sad I won't see the consequences of my choices in the future since Obsidian's writing makes them seem interesting and...Consequential. Ah well.

I haven't touched it since. I don't think I'd rate it very highly compared to other games in it's genre, but if you had someone to play it with or had a particularly strong urge to play an Obsidian...ish RPG, then...You could probably still do better somewhere else. I dunno. It's not bad, but it's hard to think of anything about it to be particularly enthusiastic about.

Well now, there's two of us now. 3rd person action/adventure isn't a genre I enjoy thoroughly, usually only the very best (Arkham series etc.), but every now and then a game manages to surprise me. And Ryse was one of those games. It's not groundbreaking or special, but I enjoyed it for what it was. Should have been a $40 title on Xbox One though, like it is on PC.
