I really liked bioshock infinite... Never understood why it got so much hate *shrugs*

And Spelunky transcends Everything, probably the only perfect designed game besides tetris...

Yes I mean that

well, but you know opinions and tastes and such, I played some of Spelunky, I know why you and Salsa like it so much, but it doesn't change my opinion that LLTQ was true GOTY.

I agree that Tetris is still a king

Rogue Legacy, Fez, Spelunky, Guacamelee, Gunpoint, The Swapper, Don't Starve, Valdis Story, Risk of Rain, Monaco, The Stanley Parable, Papers Please.. 2013 was truly an insane year for indies. I'm even going to say that imho 2015 pales in comparison (although I haven't played everyone's GOTY yet).

Of this list, The Swapper is by far my favorite. Played it last summer and I hadn't been that captivated by a game in a long time. It's incredible

As we talk crimes, the true crime of that GOTY was that Long Live the Queen was robbed, you know it's true, it is 2013 GOTY

I have actually played that game, never finished it because there was an extremely specific set of skills you have to grow late in the game or you straight up can't finish the game, i thought that was kinda bullshit and moved on, however i did like the game until that point so maybe i should go back specially since they put that update. Also i liked spelunky before it was cool, played the free version and finished it, too bad i have never managed to beat the update

I'd post proof that Teleglitch was actually 2013's GOTY, but some seedy sorts who have chosen to rewrite history like it's a congressman's wikipedia page have seen fit to sabotage the only copy I had of the photographic evidence. Damn you, Minus!

My man Tesseract remembers though.

Really? I enjoyed it more than I did Guacamelee. I enjoyed it far more than I did Valdis Story (but that could be because I didn't git gud,) and The Stanley Parable is just barely a game.

Stanley Parable is one of the few games in existence that does something interesting and creative with story telling...

I like it a lot :)

And sorry for being a bit difficult, I'm drunk and have a strong opinion at the moment :p

34hrs in to the SOTFS version of Dark Souls 2 has solidified my opinion on that game. I like DS2 SOTFS more than any other souls game I've played.

I really like Dark Souls 1 but I ACTIVELY dislike a good chunk of the latter half of that game (Dukes Archives, Crystal Cave, Seath fight, Tomb of Giants, everything about the Demon Ruins) which is one of the reasons I've never done a full second playthrough. With DS2 I never hit that point, even areas that aren't fun to progress through (Shrine of Amana, Black Gulch) I don't mind that much. DS2 DLC is also, for the most part, fantastic, and the new bosses are really fun to fight (smelter recolor aside). There's also a bevy of minor mechanical changes that made me like DS2 more like how weight works in 2, actually viable dual wielding, fast travel, lifegems, etc. On top of that, most of the problems I had with the original release of DS2 (incongruous game progression, weird or bad item/enemy placements) are fixed in SOTFS along with the remixing of the vanilla game.

Hurry up DS3

We need to go back to that Worldline

Of course it's all subjective :)

LLTQ is fun, but barely has any gameplay...

Sorry... I can't stop :p

Rouge legacy is by far the worst of those games...

What was said a few posts above is true... RL above Spelunky is just wrong...

I don't know, I really don't see what all the fuss was about with Gunpoint. Some of the writing was clever, but the game itself was just so damn dull.

That's not how that game woks at all, there are many ways to many endings, it's rather complex as far as choices go, and you are supposed to learn more about it with every try until you can plan what you want to do, how to do it and achieve that.
It's a long game, even if one run takes probably less than hour? I never checked, but probably, mostly two, there are people that spend 100 hours exploring all possibilities, it's that kind of a game. I agree that it limits its mainstream appeal if there is any, but that's what so great about it.
It might be not your kind of a game, tho.

I would've probably disagreed with you pre DLC releases, but the bossfights in the DLC's are legit among the best in the entire Soulsborne series. Sir Alonne, Fume Knight, Burnt Iron King and Sinh were

The gameplay, the part that actually matters, was way better than RL imo...

But as said above, I'm normally the last person to engage about discussions about games...

Everyone should play what they like...

My drunk head was just really offended by the notion that RL is better than Spelunky...

I stop now :p

Oh, and kerbal should win everything , truly a new game experience!

While I can respect Spelunky as being a fundamentally better game, I played and enjoyed Rogue Legacy a lot more. Until they added those stupid extra bosses which went against the entire design of the game, at which point I quit and never went back.

Apparently I am late for my own birthday, but I have come to make up for that.
(To everyone who gave me birthday wishes earlier in the thread and elsewhere thank you)

Happy Birthday Jaw! I still remember you were one of the first welcoming me to Neogaf, asking if I liked Dino Crisis

If ya don't need em, I would take em and love em and forge then into NepNep cards.

Darkest timeline for those poor gems ;_;

I'm probably super late to this but I know a lot of people have been waiting on a deal for this.

Resident Evil 5: Untold Stories DLC is 70% off over at GMG (NWYEAR-20PERC-WTHGMG works!) $3.60 USD.

Thanks for the heads up

Are you trying to signal Witcher diehards?

Errr, I don't think so? I don't really know anything about The Witcher, beyond that it's some hack and slash rpg thing?

Oh, I'm totally with you that Spelunky is better than RL, but I rather enjoyed RL for what it was. I wouldn't put it up there with my all time favorites, but I did have fun with it. Gunpoint, on the other hand, just seemed half-baked, with all the neat things that you could potentially do, but the game never gave you the chance to do any of them.

Oh, and kerbal should win everything , truly a new game experience!

True. Either that or Infinifactory.

Everyone knows the only true SteamGaf GotY is HuniePop.

you know what steamgaf played most? yup Clicker Heroes, so it CH is not a goty, steamgaf are hypocrites, confirmed

On the more serious note, how DOTA 2 didn't win goty, when big part of steamgaf spent hundreds of hours in it, some played little else, I'll probably never understand. Unless they were still playing doto when we were voting.

Anyone know how to add a game to Gameplay Time Tracker?

I'm opening up Final Fantasy XI but it opens the PlayOnline launcher first, and that is probably why, the game isn't tracked in GTT.

[edit]
I just found out, there's a "Game Detection" section in the software. I'm learning a whole lot today.

jshackles

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
Who's going to handle the voting, jshackles or MRORANGE?

I'll be handling it again this year, the voting will open on Thursday (about 48 hours from now) and stay open for 2 weeks. I'm writing up all the rules and entry details and I'll be posting that once voting opens, as well as putting the details in post #3 in this thread.

Sorry i didn't explain myself entirely, i know there's a bunch of different endings and i got a bunch and that was fun. However i wanted to go for the best ending available and the trial and error that was required turned me off, i also remember some variance in the steps that you have to do but that was awhile back so i don't remember exactly. Don't get me wrong i enjoyed my time with that game, it just required too much of me at that time. I should definitely go back. Also guys here's a tip if you ever play that game

I haven't touched the clicker games for the same reason I don't take large amounts of money to casinos.

Hey, my first of two small RPG Maker Steam games coming out in the next couple of months as a freebie title is now up on Steam.

This one is the trickier one of the two, unlike all of my other projects it uses some default RPG Maker tiles, especially at first, but the theme of the game is Deception and Love.

Take the Dream IX

What would you do for the person you love? Are you sure you're actually in love with them? They say love is all about sacrifice. What are you willing to lose for the one you supposedly love?

By the creators of Close Your Eyes. A classic love story. A stubborn woman named Gwen is off to save her girlfriend, Flora, from a strange depressed phantom know as ArKun. Now Gwen must go rescue Flora and reunite with her one true love. You can do it, admirable player, most certainly. After all, this is just a game.

It's all just a game.

This game includes the following to some degree:

*Voice Acting
*Original Artwork
*Original Music
*Original Spritework
*Default RPG Maker Assets
*Love

I expect this game to end up with mediocre reviews, mixed reviews of some liking it, some not, but a little freeware experimental game.
