I agree - even though Valve closed the security hole regarding <script> tags promptly after the update for ETS2 was published with the Harlem Shake script, there are still a lot of other tags still available that can do the same thing, like onClick, onLoad, and onError properties for <img> tags. The result is the same.

And before anyone gets scared about boners showing up from Enhanced Steam, it properly sanitizes all HTML elements from the JSON results data we receive from external data sources. :) aka "this shouldn't ever happen"

But but but boner pics would be perfectly sanitized <img> tags even complete with alt attributes to make the W3C Validator shut the fuck up! :D

also I'd kinda dig it. time to start branching out ES on GitHub :D

BRB, I'm creating my own Enhanced Steam fork that's full of boners.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

That's fantastic, thanks for the link. It's really neat how similar the camera angle is to the Witcher 2. But, just imagine how different the PC gaming landscape would be without CD Projekt RED, Good Old Games, or the Witcher...

CD Projekt RED has been a champion of game support, even going as far as re-mastering their games with "enhanced editions" FOR FREE to all customers. There's nothing definitive about the Enhanced Edition of their games - it's about making their great games better.

Good Old Games, a sister company to CD Projekt RED, revived classic games and proved that there was a demand for them in a digital marketplace. Not only that, but their staunch support of DRM-free gaming has made them a very unique digital storefront. They have grown from nobody to rival in amazing time.

The Witcher series breathed new life into the stale Bioware formula, showing up Bioware (creators of the Aurora Engine, which The Witcher 1 was made on) at every opportunity. While Bioware has edged ever closer to binary romance-action games, CDPR and the Witcher have pioneered a series with mature storylines, difficult choices, and lasting consequences.

So I think the People Can Fly dev is right when he says CDPR's success has been for the best.

You idiots

Not sure what's up with Valve this year. Not a lot of good news are coming out regarding them and their public perception also isn't at its best. Do they even care?

There are some really great and passionate people at Valve. But with their odd corporate structure, it's like everyone there forgot that things like public perception are important to your brand.

What they really need are people who can interact with the community directly, and be responsible for making statements - you know, PR. Every time an issue comes up, and Valve is silent on it, Valve loses a lot of goodwill and furthers user's perception that "Valve doesn't care."

Can you get keys from those cheap bundles to raise your give count :p Most seem to be account bound these days. Shouldn't modbot recognize those who give away games like Bad Rats versus those giving away the Witcher 3?

Here's a couple of spare keys to celebrate the incoming sale. Some are great, some are good, and others are awful. Enjoy.

The Bureau may not work, the winner can pm me and I'll give you another code for it.

Serious Sam is a wicked gahbidge series for chowdaheads.
The real question is how much will the War ZInfestation: Survivor Stories go on sale for and how many times?

I tried playing Super Hexagon for about 30 minutes without success. My brain doesn't work that way. Just couldn't get the patterns down. Think 20 was my high score.

Yes, I think a decent (or couple of, each for their games) Community Manager would do wonders for them. At least mitigate issues such as Diretide you know? I mean Valve interpreted that incident as "We didn't give them Diretide", when in reality it was mostly about Valve not communicating with their fans. And as you said, everytime something comes up like Heartbleed or Steam being down they stay silent.

RPS tried to grill them about their silence back at CES, but they just came up with excuses like "We don't have a PR dept!" , "We read our forums!".

At the same time, I think a proper PR structure would destroy a lot of what makes Valve unique.

Suddenly all of their community interactions, promotions, and public decisions would be spearheaded by PR. They would be just like every other company, with their "games you'll actually play" promotions, "we'll tell you if we ever announce Half-Life 3" announcements, and a distinct lack of both crowbars and Gabe Newell in Kickstarter videos.

Oh rock of ages, do not crumble, love is breathing still. Oh lady moon shine down, a little people magic if you will.

has the ETS2 dev steam ban been discussed here?

It has its own thread over here.

And this proves the developer side of the equation I presented earlier.

Can I abbreviate this as "Valve needs a Tony"?
Because to me, they definitely do. But since Amazon misplaced their Tony, only real competition to the Steam Summer Sales, aka peak of Steam sales, is GMG with their playfire initiative and they blew their load too early.
The personality cult of GabeN is losing steam and Valve needs somebody who actively handles both the buyers and the seller if they want Steam to be the marketplace of digital goods as GabeN imagines it.
So far Steam is just a vending machine in Japan that sells all the interesting stuff when you put in the right amount of money but if there is ever an error you'll end up with a bottle of wasabi soda in the middle of nowhere instead of your coke.
Now the developer side has a clear example too, apparently they are stuck with wasabi soda too even though they actually want to sell cool and clear spring water to Arthea.
This monopoly is hurting games, the Steam or Bust, the Master Race jokes that empower Steam while crashing every other DD just because they aren't steam and the huge lack of communication.
I mean I was irritated when some developer on Desura took the time to send me a message thanking me for getting his game. With Steam's mentality the developer is there to fix stuff or to be shouted at when it mess up and the game is a +1 on the library. So I didn't even imagine that the developer can talk to me. I'm not promoting to be best buddies with the developer of every game but Steam could manage to meet those parties better.
