** NOTE I'm not asking you to screen shot your top played games, note that the list in this op is not in order of most played, and these are not my most played games!
I'm in a spot o' bother. My girl (temporarily separate from me) is unavailable for our usual all-night phone call, so I can actually get some gaming with volume done! Huzzah! But I cannae find anything I wanna play! Bugger! The games I'm currently chipping away at - Dishonoured 2, a fresh Witcher 3 playthrough, AC: Origins; Fable: Anniversary - just aren't scratching my itch this eve!
SO I've been clicking through yearbook, and I find an empty page, there's a name without a photo, BUT I CAN'T FORGET HIS FACE! TELL ME WHERE DID HE GO, I WANNA KNOW! WHERE DID JOHNNY GOOOO
Sorry I got distracted by a wicked mad tune playin' in my head. Anyway I'm clicking through my games list and marvelling at hours played. And remeniscing. And scratching my head at forgotten playtime (apparently I've played 3x as much PoE as PoE2 which is weird because PoE2 is the one I wrote this epic post about)
So! Anyway! There are a few games here that I'm glad I got into! *not just famous/hugely popular titles...
(disclaimer: by my standards 100 hours signifies a legit gaming romance, you may be far more hardcore than I, all are welcome.)
- Neverwinter Nights 2 - 150 hours. I think I must have been rather bored/lacking new games to play during this period, but shit yeah I played the hell outta this back in '09 or so, and it's amazing how many features went on to Pillars of Eternity!
- Sim City 4 Deluxe - 110.4 Hours. This is one of those games which I can't believe I played so much - I mean, legit, I love this game and I put a ton of time into it, but this much?
- Counter Strike: Source - 73.8 Hours. This is, of course, a nuanced one, in that for every MINUTE of those 74.8 hours I was a fucking CS;S savant, topping leaderboards from first fight to last. I dunno what to say, I'm just that good at CS. Must have been because fuckers didn't have insta-headshot cheat engines back then. Those days are gone.
- Football Manager 2012 - 705.9 Hours. Yes, I am a MacDaddy of Football Manager. Only it's shit now and I'll never play it again. I also played 2011 for 500 hours and 2013 for 601 hours. So in 3 years I played over 1.5k hours of Football Manager hoooly shit.
- Gnomoria - 17.1 Hours. I don't remember any of this but this indicates that I a) tried, and b) somewhat succeeded to the point of putting more time into it.
- Sengoku - 24.7 Hours. This was a paired down take on a feudal-Japan themed Crusader Kings. I was in love with the soundtrack and enjoyed getting on top of the gameplay to the point where, again, I could somewhat do what I wanted.
- Sid Meier's Railroads! - 47.3 Hours. That's a lot of hours for what is a lightweight sandbox rail management sim, I deem, maybe it isn't but maybe Steam's wrong because this game lives Bright in my memory. Everyone should give it a go. It IS possible to get it to run without crashing on Windows 10 these days.
- Total War: Empire - 55.8 Hours (+100s). This is, in my humble opinion, the best Total War (barring warhammer 2 ofc). It's so huge, so stately, you really feel like you're part of a huge international community of nations, it goes on for ages... This is a misleading hour count because the first time I played this game it was on a CD (remember those?) and that first run was for well, well over 100 hours. To date my most succesful empire was the Maratha Confederacy who I took to the Meditteranean and most of the backcountry of the US
- I'm also extremely proud of the hours I've spent playing games like Persona 4 Golden, Lumines: Electronic Symphony, Tearaway on Vita, and The Last Guardian on PS4 Pro, with my wife
... et tu?
edit: anyone know the song without looking?
