Steam Summer Camp 2011 - The Final Damages Thread

My question is: how long will it take to download everything we bought?

I mean, between Steam Servers low speed and my ISP dl cap, it'll take a lot of time to push my content to my PC.

I'm in a similar situation. 3 people + 60GB bandwidth cap and I'm looking at downloading less than 10GB/month without going pass the limit. So I'll probably be done downloading everything by the Christmas sale, perfect.

I guess I'll throw out my purchases as well:
Warhammer: Dawn of War 2 - Retribution
X3 Terran Conflict
Terraria
King's Bounty Collection
Beat Hazard Ultra
Defense Grid
Tropico Gold
Magicka + Vietnam
The Mawesome Pack
Heroes V Pack
Penny Arcade Pack

Just over $50 for the lot...$20 over my original budget.

Smallest amount I've spent in a Steam sale for a good while, but most of the stuff on sale I already had that I'd wanted, or it was still a tad too much for me. Happy enough with what I've got, still a sizeable backlog to get through.

Compared to some of you nerds (oh the irony, lol), I was fairly sedate:

  • Monday Night Combat (have owned it since day 1 on 360 as well, just want to play it on PC)
  • Borderlands GOTY (same as above)
  • Frozen Synapse 2-pack
  • Terraria 4-pack (the only game I bought that comfortably runs on the laptop I own. It's brilliant, by the way)
  • Portal 2
  • Orange Box

Um and ahhed over pulling the trigger on F:NV, STALKER and Witcher 2, despite not having the hardware to run any of them, and decided it wasn't worth it. Witcher 2 can be had for $50 on import, and F:NV can wait for a GOTY edition and it's pretty cheap normally anyway (~$20).

So damage was er, not damaging at all?

Fuzzy

I would bang a hot farmer!
First time buying Steam games (other than free Portal) and this is what I got.

Half-Life Complete
Fortix
Fortix 2
Zen of Sudoku
World of Goo
NyxQuest
Puzzle Agent

I've already played the shit out of Fortix and Fortix 2 since I always loved Qix growing up. I never bought World of Goo or NyxQuest on Wii so I had to bite. I'm enjoying Puzzle Agent so far.

I really need to get better at M/KB controls for HL or take the time and figure out how to get a PS3 controller working with those since I suck. :(

Whoa, I thought it was just some DLC for a game I didn't have. But sure enough I have the game in my library. I only unlocked it because I had tickets to blow.

How do people get their games library to display with those icons/game pics instead of text?

Is that a custom skin?

Edit: Nevermind figured it out. It's the icons in the top right hand corner of the Library page. Awesome.

Not bad of a haul:

Monkey Island Bundle
Borderlands GOTY
Torchlight
Hitman Blood Money
SC Double Agent

which totals about $23. And since I held back, I got Dawn of War II Retribution for $7.50 from Amazon, Dawn of War II Gold for $16.50 from Amazon, and I'll probably get Bulletstorm for $12 from EA.

Made a very last-minute grab for Just Cause 2, which, combined with Ben There, Dan That & Time Gentlemen, Please, makes for a tidy £4.50 total.

Out of the cheap impulse buys I did, I've been really happy with Jamestown and Terraria.

Mine was done by this morning. 34 games including the 24 GB Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition and a few other hefty downloads. I would say that you should have been downloading them as you bought them, but who's to say if you have a bandwidth cap? Steam's servers may be slowed, but since my download doesn't go over 500-600 KB/s anyway, it didn't affect me.

This was my first steam sale. I planned on getting something but someone persuaded me to get ffxi. Then it was $3 cheaper somewhere else. I'll be ready for the next sale. Looking at the list of games though, nothing stands out that I would actually like to play. Maybe winter will be better, I'll leave Skyrim off my plate while I play Saints 3.

Before the sale I got Hydrophobia on it's deal of the day for $3, wish I didn't. I also got Shogun 2 a month ago on it's deal weekend or so and loved it.

Let's see...

Assassin's Creed: Bro
Red Faction Guerrilla
Red Faction Armageddon
Fable III
Capsized
Universe Sandbox

... and I think the total cost came to just over the normal NZ retail price for a console game. This is why I switched to PC gaming. ^_^

Just the two New Vegas DLCs for me this time around, for a total of $5.98. I'd been sorely tempted to get Back to the Future though, and probably would have had it been offered on the second chance day. I may very well get it on PS3 instead this week instead.
