They wont do Early Access.

Rumour has it several amazing things will happen next week.

Pro tip: don't miss our press conference next week. We have some Stellar stuff to show you. Stellar, I tell you.

For those in the know, is this a 4x game? Hard to tell from the steam page and trailer. Can I colonize planets? Do I select my race?

Yes and yes, but it's not really a 4x game. It's Grand Strategy like EU4 and CK2. Leans a lot more into a simulation-y direction than a 4x which is pretty gamey.

Have any >1080p screenshots been released? I'm still trying to figure out if the UI scales properly.

I have a monitor with very small dot pitch and I am wondering how close to the screen I am going to have to sit to avoid squinting....

I don't think there's a single Paradox grand strategy game with UI scaling. I have a really hard time with them as a result.

Dropping resolution to 1080p and letting my video card handle the scaling just looks terrible.

You know what would be amazing, VR support. 4x or Grand Strategy in VR could be fairly awesome depending on implementation.

On another note, I like the sound of unique technologies, especially if they branch out and build on each other. From the example in the dev diary, it'd be amazing if we could eventually transition to fully organic ships.

It looks incredible.

Like Iain M Banks Culture novels come to life. Being able to meddle in the development of lesser nations or support factions withing enemy empires etc sounds great.

Man I really hope we get a date tomorrow, and that that date is close. Cause goddamn that video has me so hyped. Even the combat looked very interesting visually; slow and like a proper naval battle, maybe a bit like an abstract Sins of a Solar Empire battle.

Its been a long time since a single video sold me on a game so easily, but goddamn that looks incredible, having not watched any video of it before. Eager to see the spacesector review. If you like 4x games they usually go quite in depth with them.

I squeed when they showed the whole map. Excited to interact with the Fallen Empires! It'll be like the Shadows and the Vorlons from Babylon 5!

Guess we're going to hear a lot of stuff over the next few days! Got a feeling it's a release date that is soon.

Man I'm going to be so bummed out if this isn't coming out soon. I keep telling myself they wouldn't be hyping it this hard right now if it's still many months out, but that's probably just me being hopeful.

Also, Wednesday and Thursday should be saved dates!

Man I was joking earlier when I said I want them just release it without announcing a releasedate earlier. If they actually release it tomorrow I will love Paradox forever!

They wont :(

Someone went through the source code (paradoxplaza.com/stellaris) and found the value 39.99 mentioned. After it was pointed out, the code was changed to 1.
Code:
<div class="hidden"><span itemprop="price">1</span><span itemprop="priceCurrency">EUR</span>
.

Literally nothing would make me happier than a "releasing now!" announcement, but I really doubt it's happening :P

Aye, there's no way I'm sleeping through this.

I love that they're going all out on science fiction tropes with this

Even better, they're building systems in such a way that your own personal stories are laden with classic sci-fi tropes. It's a beautiful beast.
