I really really like the look of the uplift and technological enlightenment mechanics... gonna be doing a whole lotta that.

I've started a game in EUIV, after watching a load of quill18 vids. It looks great, but it feels so overwhelming I haven't a clue what to do first and I've ended up turning it off and then watching more videos instead.

I've played 100 hours of CK2, I still barely have any clue what I'm doing.

I was so glad when I go to the phase both in CK2 and EU4 where I wasn't wiped out or near a wipe out after a few decades.

I got to a point in CK2 where I just gave myself a ton of money and constantly went to war

One thing I'm not clear on is how genetic drifting and the assimilation of new species affect the empire-wide bonuses (and maluses), and not just the leaders and the specific pops.

Once most of my population has a different set of traits than my founder species, do those traits apply?

That's one reason I'm so excited for this. It seems so much easier to get into, just starting with your one system, exploring, dealing with stuff on a planetary/colony level.

Buying direct from Paradox gives them more money, but you still have to play through steam (they just send you a steam code).
