Stellaris - Paradox Dev Studios new sci-fi grand strategy game

Odd question - is it better if I buy this direct from Paradox, or is that the same as buying on steam? Just wondering as if buying direct gives them a greater % of the cost I'd probably want to do that and screw the steam interface stuff.
You would give more money to Paradox but you would still get a steam key at the end.

Buying direct from Paradox gives them more money, but you still have to play through steam (they just send you a steam code).

Brilliant thanks - I actually like playing things through steam for the convenience so that's a win win for me. I just wanted to make sure Paradox got the most out of my purchase.

The first Comet event was in EU3, evolving to a Paradox meme after all the rage it created due its effect :P

Have they talked about difficulty settings yet? I didn't see any in the videos (except the advanced start for a number of empires).

EUIV and CK2 doesn't really need any because of the asymmetrical starts. But in Stellaris everyone starts equal, so it would be pretty impossible to balance the game to be fun for a newbie and advanced player at the same time without any difficulty setting like in Civ.
And the wars shown on the stream looked pretty easy ... so I wonder if the game will be challening enough for people who enjoy Immortal/Deity Civ.

I vote Comet Sighted.

You can choose at the beginning of the game to give some empires a head start in resources, tech, planets etc. Would be cool if they let you customize it a bit.
And they said wars were too easy due to some bugs, apparently warscores are still being worked on.

I think they'll probably add modifiers/bonuses at some point for difficulty options like in Europa Universalis. For example in EU:IV on easy you get a bonus to things like reduced national unrest, war exhaustion, etc. I don't play it on easy or hard, normal is always just right for me.

Edit: I just checked in EU:IV, these are the difficulty modifiers/bonuses. I'm sure there'll be something like this in Stellaris at some point for those that want it.

Edit 2: I see that tooltip by Sickboy007 says that they get no modifiers, wonder if that's a final decision or just one temporarily. Either way the best way to play is without any bonuses/modifiers IMO.

Comet Sighted is quite good (I'd go for "Komet Sighted" though :P).

I also caved and got the game on GMG for 25%. I suspect I will be posting angrily at Paradox and many bugs come release day :P.
