I've always thought this would make for an interesting adaptation. I'm in.

Not so sure about the weird period looking clothes and whatnot, are they seeing it in the 70's? Might explain the total lack of all the ultramarathon type gear we have today.

The book was originally published in 1979.

I like about a 30 minute walk. This looks about 2 hours and I don't know if I want to deal with that.

Mark Hamill being in it downgrades it a bit for me. I always feel his acting is an impersonation he's trying to pull off.
Will watch though as I love the story.

Love the book.

Bit concerned about the lack of spectators in the clip. The public coming out to watch and cheer on the walk (and the deaths) is a major component of the book, notably in regard to how it impacts upon the walkers and Ray in particular. I hope they haven't abandoned that for the sake of creating a more isolated and secretive theme. The crowd is essentially a fleshed out character, going through stages of misguided patriotism, amusement and support, to shock and despair and even becoming a monster itself.

It would really hurt the story if they take that away.

Interesting. I wonder what King's inspiration was for this. I could name a name, but don't want to talk political about RFK Jr.

Decided to start King books last year having only done a few before that. Gave up a bit into the list and decided just to do all Dark Tower books and related books.
But I did get through this one as was one of the earlier ones. Listened to the audiobook. Reading the blurb for it compared to the length, I didn't have high hopes, but really liked it.

Is this a theatrical release? Would be low budget but think it would be one for watching at 1.5x speed at home. Maybe it's from different points in the but there doesn't seem to be as many taking part as in the book.

I know he's too old for it now, but getting Dylan O'Brien for it would've been funny comparing to Maze Runner. Actually, getting all the Maze Runner cast back would've worked. And if they find a way to work Kaya and Rosa in as well, I wouldn't mind. Though I am surprised they kept it as just boys.

Shawshank and Green Mile?
I think Shawshank is, far and away, the best conceptualization of IDEAS from King. I think most of his early works which were narratively more direct and more focused on just a few strong characters were much better adaptation fodder. His later stuff has become so layered, diffuse, and plot nebulous that adpations suffer. Though I admit to falling off the King train somewhere around the 11/27/67 book give or take, so his more recent stuff may be different.

I've got my ticket to see this next week. I thought the recent The Life of Chuck adaptation was well done so hopefully this is too.

Every reality show should have real Competition. Win or your gone. Amazing Race for your life. Execution used specific to that country.

For real, treadmills are loud. Do they give people noise canceling headphones or something? I'd do the immersive viewing if noise wasn't an issue.
