Thanks Anyanka. G-d, I played the GBA version so much. If they manage somehow get around the PSP's horrid D-Pad, I'll play this one at least as much, I think.

Check out Guilty Gear, I just imported it and it's pretty sweet.
GGXX2 works fine on PS2, not great, but fine. Definitively playable after some practice, but doesnt replace the console pads.

Good thing a PS2 game isn't about to replace console pads.

How does it play on PSP?

Will Capcom ever make a Street Fighter Beta?

Well, considering the series is called Street Fighter Zero in Japan, then Street Fighter Beta = Street Fighter (1). Your wish was granted! Years before you ever had it!

The SF Zero title never made sense, seeing as how it's after SF1. Plus it lead to ridiculous names like "Street Fighter Zero 2".

It's not like Alpha makes significantly more sense. I guess Street Fighter 1.5 just didnt't fly.

Fingers crossed. :)

Capcom's EU PSP Feb/March lineup is very nice - Monster Hunter, SFA3 Max and BOF3.

Eagle, Maki and Yun are from the GBA port of SFA3U. Ingrid is added from CFE.

Why isn't BOF3 coming to America? Or the MM Legends games? :/

Or Tales of Eternia. :)

I don't know about any improvements to the world tour mode but the PSP version has

a new variable battle mode that allows for tag-team fights where the player can swap out fighters in the middle of a match... gamers can take each other on in handicapped two-on-one versus dramatic battle matches, as well as the multiplayer version of the new tag-out versus variable battle mode.

What you are seeing is probably from the two-on-one versus dramatic battle match. I don't believe the PSone version had this. Did the Saturn or GBA version of SFA3 have? I remember the GBA version not having the World Tour mode and Mr. Announcer. Also:
The game is in true widescreen now instead of the stretch mode used for Darkstalkers, and the loadtimes are faster and more regularly tied with the flashy Street Fighter effects screens than the blank "Now Loading" page.

The GBA version of SFA3 did have dramatic battle, suprisingly.

Yeah, but not Dramatic Battle vs, IIRC.

Still, the fact that the game even had 3 fighters at once with full animation and most of the special effects, and no slowdown, was rather impressive.

It still shocks me to consider just how much SFA3 Upper GBA, by Crawfish Entertainment (RIP) so thoroughly and completely fucking OWNS Capcom's SFA2 SNES and SSFT2 Revival GBA games.

IIRC the dramatic battle mode is in every home version of SFA3, but the PSX version was limited to having two of the same character with/against one other character, while all the other versions, GBA included, let you have three unique characters in the fights.

I can't wait for SFA3 on PSP. Comes out in Japan next month. :D Capcom has really impressed me with Monster Hunter Portable, so hopefully this is the start of some awesome PSP games/conversions from them. Irregular Hunter X is next up on 12/15.

BTW if you want something to satisfy your PSP 2D fighting game fix, import Guilty Gear XX #Reload. While I personally never had any problem with Darkstalkers' game play on PSP, there is no question that GGXX is more responsive and has much faster load times. I'm sure SFA3 will turn out the same way.

Someone please tell me there's an option to fix the aspect ratio.

I'm sure that there will also be a 4:3 screen ratio option. All the 2D games on the PSP have this feature (Darkstalkers, Princess Crown, Guilty Gear, etc.)

Looks really awesome but it really can't be said enough... MAKE THE D-PAD WORK!!!

I don't understand why it just can't register diagonals properly.

I will definetly be 'testing' this games controls before buying.

I love SFA3 so much and I keep my DC version around for SFA3 love.

That being said, why doesn't Capcom make this for the modern home consoles? I'd pay full price for it (Or $20 as an XBL Arcade download)

Unfortunately, so far I've been unable to play any 2D fighting game comfortably on the PSP due to the D-Pad, and I don't think there's any software way to "fix" it either. Darkstalkers was unplayable (IMHO) and so has every "emulated" 2D fighter I've tried. There's no way I'm getting this game on the PSP. Makes me cry.

I remember the NeoCD emulator couldn't register diagonals, but the later versions did on the PSP. A lot of the emulator's suffered from it until the later ones actually accounted for it. Sounds like proper coding is really needed and not simple straight porting controls.
