Street Fighter Alpha for PSP unveiled!

There's little info on the game at the moment, but Capcom has just unveiled the game as part of its E3 conference, and we expect to know more soon. So far, we know that the game will arrive with "Network Versus" play (which is hopefully online play with the PSP, although DarkStalkers Chronicle used the same "network" term to describe its off-line Ad-Hoc multiplayer.) The game will also include a new "Battle Mode" exclusive for the PlayStation Portable, but details are not available yet on what this mode is. Video of the game showed smooth and fast motion, even though the game is early in production and won't arrive until this winter.

Awesome, but is it 1, 2, or 3? I hope it's like Darkstalkers where all 3 games are mixed into 1 and you choose which character type to use.
 
The fight will continue on PSP. Capcom announced today its second PSP fighting game with a version of Street Fighter Alpha for PlayStation Portable.

Early in production? How long does it take to port something to the PSP? I hope they are actually doing something like they did with Darkstalkers with the SFA series. Either way, this game is mine.

but in all seriousness Im a Street Fighter Whore and I buy every SF game *shrug* its a disease i think

and your Puzzle Fighter is on GBA :P

I want an arcade perfect Puzzle Fighter with Ad-Hoc and Online play. PLEASE Capcom!
 
I was really hoping it would 3rd Strike, but I'm certainly more than happy with this news since the Alpha series is my favorite out of all the SF games. :)

But what's with the "Street Fighter Alpha" announcement? IGN said they were showed a video...what, they can't tell which game is which? There's no way Capcom is going to port the original game; this is obviously going to be Street Fighter Zero 3 Upper with some added modes (and the DC version already has a bunch of play options).
 
:D I hope it's a SFA collection type deal. It would be nice if it had the extra characters from the GBA game, the background from all of them (especially SFA2's BG) and kept the loading to a minimal. I haven't gotten a PSP but this might just make me get one if this turns out awesome.

The Battle Mode is probably something like the team mode in the game. Tagging with another character and maybe doing something like in the survaibal mode.

Maybe because for Monster Hunter you would require some sort of server side service as the PSP wouldn't be able to keep track of all the vaiables due to lack of memory, where as a fighting game requires a background and two fighters well within the PSPs memory requirements.

It's Capcom, so forget about the old backgrounds. Old BGM tracks, perhaps, but not backgrounds. Having Yun, Maki, and Eagle from the GBA version would definitely rule. :) Hell, throw in some more Capcom characters from the Vs. games and CvS2 too!

Well, there's already Dramatic Battle mode which lets you team up with or take on the CPU with a partner in the home versions of SFA3, so if it's really "new," it would have to be something else. I'm guessing it will be some stupid "tournament" battle mode for four people to take turns playing in like in Darkstalkers Chronicle.
 
You've made me the happiest man on earth...I really hope it's not Zero 3 standalone...I wish it was Zero 2 which IMO is the best SF to date.

However if it's Zero 3 it's ok.

Bleh, sorta hoping for SFA2, since its a better game in my mind. (all around I mean)

But 3 is cool. Actually I sorta wanted tech romancer or third strike ;)
 
Any release date for the Japanese version? I'm assuming IGN's release date of "winter" is for the U.S.

Come Capcom Japan, this is just a port...I want to see a June release date. :D

Yeah, you're probably right, it is Capcom afterall. I don't mind it's SFA3 since I have almost every version of it.

I still wouldn't mind if some of the BGs from 2 were in maybe since they were cooler like the storm grass stage where Ryu gave Sagat the scar in the anime. Capcom could toss the BGs as unlockables for Vs mode. Something better than unlocking Shin Bison or Shin Akuma. If they ever throw in characters from other games, I hope they don't look shitty like in Fighting Evolution.

I'm a big Tech Romancer Fan myself, but do you honestly expect another version ever to be released? I don't know about Japan but I'm pretty sure the DC version did not sell very well.
 
Hell yes Alpha 3 wooooo!! I don't like most 2D fighters but Alpha 3 is my favorite! :D

Now all I need is SNK to bring over a Samurai Showdown collection to PSP!

So that screen is definitely from Alpha 3, right (I haven't played the game in a long time)? Because Magicbox is saying that it's Alpha 4 (!??)..is that even possible? Maybe it IS some kind of collection, because a whole new game seems a bit doubtful. I probably shouldn't be trusting Magicbox, though, huh?

It's Alpha 3 for the 100th time. :) Magic Box just says "Street Fighter Alpha" with no number given.

With Vampire Chronicle, Street Fighter Alpha 3, Mortal Kombat Deception, Viewtiful Joe VFX Battle, and Guilty Gear all on/coming to PSP, the fighting game genre for portables is looking better now.

All we need now is something from SNK (port KOF Neowave!!), Namco (Tekken and/or Soul Calibur!!), and Sega (Virtua Fighter bitches!).
