I've been looking up who's playing who in the movie and I've never heard of some of these SF characters, I'm so detached from the series, now.
Edit: Been looking up some of the cast, too and I have no idea who some of these people are as well, I'm basically detached from the world at this point. Maybe that's why I'm so happy?

Probably another MK like disaster incoming, it does give me a good opportunity to remind everyone how fucking good the 1994 move was, probably corny at moments but I never felt a minute wasted watching it, one of my all time favorites. Much like the 90's MK movie.

Casting a woman with no ass or thighs to play chun li is retarded.

He's the best of the bunch and probably the best actor out of the group. He's decently built too for the role. But nothing beats RJ's 'For me it was a Tuesday'
He's in a lot more than you think too. Murder Bot and Dexter, he was pretty good.

While your wording seem to imply it was a coincidence, it was the devs intention to make a Mike Tyson character so of course they knew the copyright strike would come and they had to change the names at least.
And since Vega is not beefy enough a name for a boxer, they changed Bison to Balrog, Balrog to Vega, and Vega to Bison (at least it is my explanation).

The claw character is Spanish, and Vega is a somewhat common Spanish surname. Balrog instead is totally unrelated to Spain.
So I assume their idea was to both avoid issues with Tyson and to give the ninja bullfighter a better fitting name.
Having changed boxer's name from M.Bison to Balrog and the ninja game from Balrog to Vega, they only had the M.Bison name left for the dictator (known as Vega in Japan).
Regarding why they reasigned names instead of giving them new names, pretty likely the reason was that they made the decision when they already had the Japanese arcade board ready or already published, so it was easier for them to just swap stuff in memory than to change visuals before to publish later in the west/USA.

I never knew this, but he was in a movie in 2011 called All Things Fall Apart and plays a guy who has a disease. He lost a lot of weight to play the part. And you wouldnt even tell it's him!
