AJUMP23

Parody of actual AJUMP23
I think this looks utterly ridiculous in a good way.

My 11 year old saw this talked about how Chun Li is known for having a big butt. He knows Chun Li from Fortnite.

Watch the first one with him so he will understand why the new one looks the way it does :).

Maybe we will get lucky and this will just be a gore fest like The Raid (in terms of violence...I don't expect Raid levels of physical combat).

I'm gonna see it, of course, because I am part of the problem, but that kind of wu-shu wire work choreography is a tricky one to sustain for an entire film. It works for 70's kung-fu movies because they are all absurd with the dubbing and the grace of Crouching Tiger stuff carries it there, but this looks....tricky with respect to tone. Still, they work in a lot of the moves from the games so those will be fun to see.

Hope they keep leaning into the fun side of things in the full movie.

There were moments in the trailer where I could kind of get a sense of what they were going for, which is somewhere near Kung Pow or a Tarantino flashback scene, but maybe not as ridiculous as the former.

they keep casting the whitest asians for Ryu. I think Cammy and Dhalsim looks alrite, the rest are kind of goofy. Bison looks like he's 4 feet tall. It could go ok if they really go in on the campyness and doesn't take itself seriously.

need this type of fun energy

I'm down with the tone they've gone for in the trailer. Could have taken it in different ways, but they look to be full commit going for the 70's American Kung-fu crossover shlock with wire-work and "cool"

Didn't see Sagat anywhere. Surprised by that, given that they've put character's like Joe in it, both were in the first game, but Sagat being the boss feels like he's of bigger significance, certainly with his appearance in SF2. Maybe there's a story or he's sequel fodder.

I had an audible WTF when I saw that yesterday and I still question who's actually asking for this. out of those posters, only Zangief and Balrog pasted the vibe check. maybe Juli too. all the others range from "meh, could be better." to "are you fucking kidding me!?" territory.

Andrew Koji is pretty legit for fight scenes, but I've no clue who most of this cast is, and the ones I do know aren't really known for their martial art skills. Suggests to me that we aren't gonna get a lot of well choreographed, intricate fights, but rather more over the top bombastic stuff.

Guess we will have to wait for Virtua Fighter movie to see really good fights :P

I'm being cautiously optimistic about this movie

The female fighters actually look pretty but I wonder if they will censor Cammy and Chun Li. Especially in regards to Cammy butt shots from the game

I'm slowly warming up to it. My initial reaction was that this was absolutely terrible but if I can view it as just a goofy fighting movie then it is okay. It still is disappointing though.

I think it looks fun

Plus, Legendary has done fine with IPs. I am a Godzilla nerd and Legendary Godzilla is OK (for the most part). So I trust them to make a cool film.

I don't think it will be some earth shattering intellectual film extraordinaire, but it looks fun enough.

Give me a bag of chips, a cold one and fat rolled spliff and i'm down for this. Looks good. It ain't citizen kane but it sure may be more fun to watch.

The spiritual successor of

I know Street Fighter 1994 has its' fans, I can understand why. It does have elements in it that I do enjoy. People often equate it to being a stealth GI Joe movie with Street Fighter characters, and in many ways, it is that. But, when I was 13-14 years old, I just could never get into it as a movie. Even back then it just seemed to hokey overall. I skipped it in theatres, probably saw it on home video a few times. It just didn't do anything for me overall.

I remember watching Mortal Kombat at the cinema when I was like 14, back in 1995, and I remember enjoying that movie far more, despite it still not having any blood and gore, like the games. Mortal Kombat 1995 was a really fun mash up of Enter the Dragon (it steals most of the plot from this movie), Big Trouble in Little China and other 70's and 80's era kung fu movies. Plus the soundtrack was bonkers for its' day. The movie also influenced the later games. Turning Kano into an Australian, creating the rivalry between Sonya.

Sadly the guy who played Shang Tsung passed away a week or two ago.

Shame that Annihilation was a complete shit show.

As for this trailer... well, it looks like a Street Fighter movie, but I am still on the fence with it. To be honest, I do feel the same way about Mortal Kombat II as well. Maybe they will surprise me?
