Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition: Free update arcade mode & more; $40 game+DLC bundle

I like all of it except the UI. It looks like they just put a new skin on it instead of making it good. I told my friend if they dropped a "Super" with 2 v triggers and 2 seasons of DLC in the initial price that I'd bite, so I guess I'll bite.

Also, the name is dumb but who cares.

I think you can costumize the colors, tho yea seems to be the default and I prefer s1. CSS too.

They're not wrong. Every female character in the game has a larger bust than their previous appearances, to the detriment of many of their designs.

Well sure, especially when compared to her sf4/sfxt self. But giant is a bit of a stretch. Mika's bust is giant.

The name is about as straight forward as it gets.

I agree with you about the UI, though.

Cool. Hopefully the arcade scene in Japan will get a bump from this, although there's still a decent crowd at Taito Station...sometimes...lol.

Yeah, if Guile was replaced by Nash then maybe it'd be by series, but it's obvious they just threw some of the most popular characters on the box art. Don't look too much into it guys.

Personally, I would have swapped Guile for Menat or Ed (& maybe Ibuki for Alex, but that can be debated), but I understand that Menat's popularity likely came too recently for Capcom to act on it. Either way, I have no major qualms with the cover itself.

Not really. Capcom just can't decide if they like Alex or Yun more as their SF3 rep. The true answer is Q.

Q and Makoto

Sure it's straightforward, but from a marketing standpoint some who bought SF4 and skipped SFV are gonna say "oh okay, so Ultra is next, I'll wait some more". They also might be inclined to think it's just SFV with an arcade mode added and nothing more. Like I said though, who cares. It's literally the least important detail imo.

Multiple SF themed arcade ladders is a fucking amazing idea..color me excited.

This package deal just says the characters from the passes are available, but not the premium costumes or stages.

Capcom still has to find a way to make money you know. :P

The costumes that can be bought with FM are probably just the story ones and maybe a new subset of costumes.

It's be nice if Capcom gave the option to earn premium costumes via FM like what Bamco does for Tekken 7 FR in the arcade, but Capcom is poor nowadays.

I'm legitimately happy for this update, but I can't shake the feeling that I don't like Capcom's position (also Ono) that we should feel thankful for this update, considering that most of those features should have been at launch in the first place. Along with the fact that they actually are not paying any sort of respect towards the guys who backed the game back in the day beyond this ***free*** features. I mean, there's a ton of things you can't purchase with FM, at least they should give previous owners that chance (like the SF2 BGM or other costumes).

Anyway guys, will this be the thread to discuss the new V Triggers? I'm interested in that.

In case anyone was wondering about that cover:

Ryu - SF
Chun Li - SFA
Guile - SF2
Ibuki - SF3
Juri - SF4
Rashid - SF5
Akuma - dat Marvel

They could've put like Karin or Nash or Mika for Alpha but Chunners is a bigger name and it was a convenient way to also cram three popular characters from SF2 in there while representing three games in general.

Okay 4 if you count the Tekken character.

Didn't you see the Ono video? He said thank you

And hopefully after all the complaining about Sakura they give her a legit fighting costume and make her schoolgirl outfit be a DLC. If Capcom can do that? I might make a thread praising their change-ups on this game.

Default = proper outfit. Story outfit = school uniform. That's how it should be.

The characters will probably not have their premium costumes since that's a perk of the season passes. The SFV costumes all look better and look like some effort was actually taken than any of the Tekken 7 customization items and clothing which are shared with characters depending on body types. I hate all their cloth physics and generic looking outfits. The worst costume in SFV is the Alex story mode. Since you can potentially get a majority of the things in SFV for free you gotta guarantee some income is gonna come in and charge for something. Give me the option to get DLC characters for free in Tekken with Fight Money.

Watch the Ono video, he's very thankful for the people who have been supporting the game so far.

Apples and oranges. Arcade is a steady flow in money, home console not. Might as well say this about Tekken 7 console version, where new costumes are behind a paywall too.

Let's put it this way. We railed into them for months for this shit and we got it. We can either hold grudges or celebrate the turn around. For me, it's a product, and it getting better is better for everyone. Same with NMS, Rainbow Six, and a host of other games. The official OT in the community side has some discussion going on.

I just gave up trying to play Menat today and went back to Mika. Way easier character lol
I played for the first time in a few months today with the idea of trying menat. I love her design but damn, she doesn't suit my play style. Loaded up Mika and was instantly having fun again.

Currently Mika is still by far the most fun character to play for me despite her flaws. I still play a bit of Guile as i can actually play better with him but he is a bit boring at times. I try a little Ryu now and then but he also has issues right now.

This announcement today really got me excited about this game again. Pretty much the online online game i constantly play anymore.

Looking forward to some classic characters in season 3 and hopefully some more gameplay tweaks in addition to what's already announced.

I am missing these characters from season 1 & 2:

Guile
Balrog
Alex
Kolin
Ed
Abigail
Zeku

7 x $6 =$42 for me to get all the characters.
I have GCU so I could get SFV:AE for $32 or do I wait for season 1 & 2 to be bundled together? A bundle (S1&S2) probably wouldn't go much lower than $25.

It'd be nice to have an option for people with some characters to effectively upgrade their base game and not have to buy AE. I guess that's their intention is for us all to just upgrade to AE.

I'd buy it for sure if it included extra stages and costumes, but that seems to not be the case.

All the costumes in Tekken 7 arcade FR or vanilla are behind a paywall and randomized loot box system.

Namco didn't give the option to grind for premium tickets until FR, and we even had to grind for item spheres to actually make the items usable in vanilla.

Namco was more far more heinous than Capcom could ever dream to be in vanilla.

I just realized that it says nothing about including the premium battle costumes for DLC characters.

12 x $4 = $48 so if you really want those costumes you are better off buying vanilla SFV for $20 or less (very easy to do) plus the two season passes.

Save $8!!!

This is why I spend all my FM on stages and story costumes. Season Pass is better for someone who wants all the characters.

I waited and picked up the S1 pass for $15, will do the same for S2. Probably won't be long.

Will probably buy as I haven't played since season 1 but damn if they included the stages this would be an instant buy for alot of casual fans.
