Ehh I'm not so sure about Laura anymore. Not really feeling her gameplay.

I just tried her out and lost 5 straight games

Imma git gud with her it's just gonna take time.

Laura feels like Abel with somewhat better normals and much worse damage and mix ups.
She even has a step punch lol

But yeah, her damage looks poopy. And honestly I'd say she's more like Super Juri, pretty limited outside of FSE and not really worth taking risks.

but she seems like has a better oki though with her poison-ish projectile
but this game having quickrise on everything except super makes oki not that good either so

from what i saw on infiltration, her projectile can act as an anti air either if you use charged, and i think it has juggle so you can combo afterwards

You can use her AA throw if you land a level 3 fireball up close.

Target combo>fireball provides a nice mixup between a meaty and a throw set up, even with quick rise.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem possible to combo into forward hard punch from what I saw. Crush counter into v trigger may work, but I didn't get to try it.

After SF4 Capcom owes people cute looking women

Specially Rose fans

Doesn't she do that in the trailer?

Capcom really doesn't want me finishing my essay tonight. Nah, I have time so I'll probably play for a couple of hours if I'm home.

I don't like Laura too much, but I think it's good to play a character till you learn a few gimmicks so you know what to expect against them. Best way to learn how to counter a move is to play that char, use that move and get countered by someone else :p

Guess i'm not the only person who played Laura and went :dahell:

I played her a lot at Canada Cup. I think it's the same build as the beta because of the new Karin/Chun win screen.

I couldn't find any links for her outside of lights. She has a target combo that you can V-Trigger after to continue the combo. Her AA Elbow/Grab is very solid. ..I don't have any other positive things to say about her apart from a cool design lol

Really don't like Capcom's approach they're taking with not having too many links. I think I'd like this game a lot more if they opened up the combo system a bit more.. oh well

wait can you actually just choose training in the beta now and not have to be interrupted with matches?
I think fight request is still on going by the little purple icon thing at the bottom of Infiltration's stream during training. He was using the dummy record trick as well.

It ain't bad at all but it was pointless and not an upgrade.

I liked how serious she used to look. Her and Cammy seem to get younger and younger with each Beta.

Reminds me of how the English voice actor for Chun-Li was on a podcast and complaining a little bit that the voice director wouldn't let her do Chun-Li with age appropriate voice, insisting she needs to be high pitched like she's still a teenager.

Here's a match I got in with Laura before servers went down.

She doesn't have much in the way of hit confirms and she can't combo off her cr lk at all afaik. She's weird in that she can't super cancel her special moves, she can't cancel her normals into command throw, and she can't even special cancel her f+hp xx hp target combo on block. Lots of unusual restrictions for her. Oh well, I'm looking forward to trying her out some more tomorrow.

There are characters in SF5 with deeper voices. Chun Li has a high pitched voice, she always has, that's part of her character.

I still have no idea how to approach matches against other players. What my style should be, how much I should attack, which combos to use and all that to at least have a chance against other players.

I want to love Street Fighter V, but it doesn't let me in that easily.

Lovely name your opponent had. You did pretty well with her. That four hit combo near the end looked likely to be a standard for future users. Bummed to hear about limitations, but I still wanna give her a shot tonight.

Are you familiar with fighting games? Played SFIV?

I ask because you can get away with knowing fighting game fundamentals and build off of that.

The way I approach depends how n my opponent...sometimes I'm offensive other times defensive...I can beat many with just basic combos because I can bait and switch on my opponent.

If my opponent is really aggressive, they'll run into crush counters and critical arts.

You may be trying to do too much too soon. Eventually you'll develop a style and learn all the combos, but to start with all you need to do is find a decent 3 hit combo that does good damage and, more importantly, that you can execute reliably. Practice doing it following a successful jump-in and also on the ground, as a punish when your opponent misses an attack that leaves them open.

By focusing on simple attacks, you'll be able to pay more attention to spacing, defense, when you can counter attack, etc. Knowing all the combos is less important than knowing when you should block and when you should attack, when you should jump and when you should stay grounded, etc. The only way to really learn that is by playing. As you develop habits that work and more aspects of playing the game become automatic, you can then focus your active brain on developing your arsenal of combos and mind games.
