Let me give you a breakdown of my tastes:
Lets start with what i thought was sucky to mediocre this year.
Young Buck/ Lloyd Banks (2 mics each, i hate these cds lol)
Crunk Juice (2.5/3 mics)
Encore (3.5 mics)
Kiss of Death (this was like 3/3.5 mics).
Tical 0: the prequel (Even though meth is my favorite artist: 3 mics).
4 mics or better:
The beautiful struggle (4.5 mics, awesome fuckin cd).
Ali Vegas: Birth of a Prince (4 mics, very good cd)
Diplomatic Immunity 2 (lol i dont usually go for the club bangers; but this cd is just fun to listen to at all times: 4 mics).
The Black Album: (Did not live up to all the hype : 4 mics)
5 mic albums:
College Dropout - Kanye dropped a classic for his first cd. Mad Props. (how many singles has he had? Like 6?)
Street's Disciple - To answer your question: I Think Nas stepped up his lyrisism throughout this album. Amazing. and yes it's two cds.
EDIT: The song about Rakim is fucking awesome. And some of his beat choices seem weird (even though his lyricism is above everyone else (like usual) for the thing he rappin bout).
Oh yeah Love this line: "I squeeze nipples like pimples to get the puss (get it)"

This is good news; wasn't really feeling Thief's theme or the other single he put out, hopefully the album will be fire.
Gotta agree with you Masta Ace's- A long Hot Summer is prolly the release of the year, hopefully Nas and Common match Ace's effort.
