This really reminds me of Omega Boost, I need to play it with the OB soundtrack.
this looks absolutely awesome
the mech design is really cool, but i'm slightly worried about it being a gimmick. like what is the point of it? you basically turn into a turret?
In a combat situation it eliminates the need to fly past your target and do a time wasting turn - you simply attack your target, fly past, and then pop into mech and spin around in a 180. Or, you know, shoot down/dodge missiles that are chasing you, and so on.
There's a lot of uses for it based on what I've seen - it's not just a gimmick. Definitely part of the core gameplay.
Looking at reviews the game seems to be an acquired taste, might jump on it at $15 though.
Even though it borrows heavily from past games, SSZ tries to be more than just a rehashing of an old genre. Its inclusion of a multiple-objective system adds difficulty and depth to its missions, even if they do get repetitive and tiresome at times. Piloting the Strike Suit, however, is the highlight of the game and the reason why you'll want to play it. It may not be very innovative, but SSZ offers plenty of challenge and fun that make it worth revisiting the space combat genre.
Strike Suit Zero is without a doubt a fun game, and it’s pretty challenging. Challenging enough to keep you sitting there and thinking “right, I am going to get this mission done,” and before you know it you’re either weeping at the amount of times it took to complete a mission or just eager to crack on to the next. You also can’t fault the art style and overall visuals, it’s pretty looking game with some great effects on the missiles and explosions.
Despite a few faults, Strike Suit Zero is a game well worth taking a look at. The space combat genre needs a new title, and at the £15.00 price point, you’re going to get your money’s worth of entertainment, especially if some decent DLC is released in the future.
The game also has a nasty tendency to crash more than it probably should, though thankfully when it does happen it is between missions so no progress is lost.
Genre fans may find that not everything has aged as well in reality as in their memories, as archaic checkpoint design and borderline unfair enemy odds tend to be more frustrating than fun. But when the game does work it works very well, as you spray a barrage of missiles while zipping between objectives.
Strike Suit Zero feels very much like a product of the time when space combat games flourished on PC. Your enjoyment will greatly depend on whether you think of that as praise or a condemnation.
I'm wondering how much re playability it will have. Are there difficulty settings or challenge modes?
I wish steam would put it up for pre-purchase already. I love anything to do with giant robots, hopefully it isn't too much money.
How could that ever be a condemnation?Strike Suit Zero feels very much like a product of the time when space combat games flourished on PC. Your enjoyment will greatly depend on whether you think of that as praise or a condemnation.
How could that ever be a condemnation?
Honestly, some people.

Escort mission is a term that pops into mind that floated around during that era.

Escort missions of any kind are always a bloody nightmare. I will send the fires of hell to any developer that includes them.
Use PayPal and set PayPal to draw directly from your bank account and this should get around the stupid credit card company restrictions. That's what works for me and yeah my CC got frozen once for a GMG transaction myself before I started doing this.Holy fuck, the Green Man Games site isn't lying about some banks flagging their site as a gambling / fraud site. I got an email from my bank minutes after making my purchase letting me know that my card had been limited and to call the fraud hotline.
Fucking christ.
Then they asked me random questions like... name some cross streets and nearby landmarks. Naturally, I work from home and don't drive so I was like... um, I have no idea. Ask me something related to my account lol. That was an awkward phone call.
Yeah. Wtf.
This ot was claimed forever ago.
|OT| |OT|
Escort missions are a staple of the genre. Having to choose between attacking the fighters on your tail and shooting down inbound proton torpedos/bombs in TIE Fighter is actually kind of awesome.
There is, actually. Is there some OT claiming thread somewhere that I am unaware of?
Funny I thought open arena dogfighting was the staple.

(I also wasn't aware of it until around mid-2012)
If the person that's supposed to actually put up the OT doesn't do it in a timely fashion then it's really open game, though. I'm glad this one went up cause I wouldn't have known about the game or purchased it otherwise.
So, basically, you suck at OT's Cystm. Try to get it up on time if you're going to claim one in the future, otherwise you forfeit your rights to it.

Sounds fair, guy was probably going to make the OT for SSZ the day before launch!
I thought one to two weeks prior was the customary ot post time?
And yeah, got a question Jamin: did you guys ever consider the story an important part of the game or is it just there to give context to the battles? Also, does it all happen in the form of transmissions, or are there any cutscenes?
Strange question, but did you by chance work at videogamer.com some time ago? I recall someone called Jamin which was part of the Podcast .. although if memory serves me right he left to become part of Doublesix.
Seeing the screenshots above I have a question: is there a way to disable the HUD?
Narrative is something we consider very important. We always wanted your choices in game to have a dramatic effect on the outcome of the story, and to that extent we have multiple endings in the game There's a real sense of action and consequence.
In terms of delivery, yeah, it all happens in the form of radio chatter. You're a pilot in the fleet, and this is exactly how any wider sense of understanding would be conveyed if you were sat in the cockpit.
Hope that helps shed some light on things.
Jamin, you know what you need to do.Dug through the options and nope, not happening.

Turns out not everyone has an abundance of time on their hands. One of the reason's why |OT| |OT| is so useful. But thanks for the info, mod. Oh, wait. You are not a mod. So, basically, you should chill out.
Real thread inc. THANKS FOR YOUR PATIENCE.
How many different ships are their in the game?
