I have to do a stupid schoolwork, I need to write 10 highlights of the 90ties in the music world.

for example: the eighties: even more music styles saw the light. New Wave brought sombre dark music. Rock music still lived on in differnt styles, some rock bands such as "Guns 'n' Roses, Motley Crue and Wasp.

I need to make such a text up in 10 lines about what was special about the 90ties in terms of music.

The only thing I can come up with is Nirvana who died back in 1993.. can you guys help this poor student who has to make stupid works like this? ^^

There were a couple movements in the 90s, some of which have died out.

College Alt-Rock like Pavement, Teenage Fanclub and the like had a larger following in the explosiong of the "Alternative" scene.

The brief Swing resurgence with Brian Setzer, Cherry Poppin' Daddies, Squirrel Nut Zippers was near the end of the 90s.

Punk/Ska went more mainstream with Rancid, Green Day, Offspring and Mighty, Mighty Bosstones

Oh and that whole NiN thing helped keep goths alive!:)

DECK'ARD

The Amiga Brotherhood
As far as the UK was concerned the mid-90's were Britpop - Blur, Oasis, Pulp and a lot of other indie bands went mainstream.

I've still got a soft spot for Matthew Sweet even if I'm not fond of most of his albums past Girlfriend. :p

And here I thought I was the only one! Sick of Myself indeed.

How about the 80s was when Ozzy went solo. You forgot that, so I'm only offering you a small bit of help for the 90s.

Spice Girls.

Don't forget the ultimately futile BritPop era. Where are Oasis and Blur these days, anyway?

Also worth noting is the British surge at the very beginning of the '90s. I remember it was pretty much assumed that stuff like Jesus Jones and EMF were the next wave of music in the first two years of the '90s, but then Nirvana hit and all that went out the window.

Jill Sandwich

the turds of Optimus Prime
The Seattle sound, Acid House, Madchester (Stone Roses/Happy Mondays etc), East coast Vs West in rap (Tupac/B.I.G)
Boy bands! Nsync, Backstreet Boys, 98 degrees. The whole Jive records thing in general towards the end of the decade.

Oasis is selling out shows in the US and the UK, and Damon Albarn's voice is being broadcast every five seconds due to a little iPod commercial.
