Stupid SF question that's been bugging me...

When Ryu or Ken perform their Hurricane Kick, they yell "Tatsumaki Senpuu Kyaku!!!" right but why I can't even remotely hear them say that phrase?... What they say is more like "Chachabuchi" or something...

low quality sample i think.. try a newer game like SF3 or Alpha3 or CvS2
That's the thing... they still sound the same on the newer games too... I can hear "Hadouken!" or "Shoryuken!" just fine but not "Tatsumaki Senpuu Kyaku!"

When I was younger my friends and I used to think they were saying,

"Habou Ken"
"Oryu Ken"
and
"Halackta Huja"

I'll let you figure out which moves the phonetic spelling/interpretation correlates to.

We also used to think Chun Li was saying "Yepta," and that Guile was saying "Hareck Whom."

Sagat's tiger flame always used to sound like "Eiger" to me.

And the Shoryuken always sounded like "Are you Ken?"

I always thought Raiden in Mortal Kombat said "I'm a member of the hezbollah" when he did his torpedo.

Haha, I can never hear it to this day. While playing SF2 it sounded like "sidestep veruca" or something to me.

And Raiden says "YOUWANTSOME LEMONAAAAAADE".

I was maybe 12 or 14 when I first heard this.

"Yuck cha cha rooka!"

"Hadoo ken!"

"Shoryuken!" <-- got that one right :)

Actually, to me it sounded like he was saying:

"OH YEAH BAMBALEY-AHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh !"

There are so many great ones like that...

like the original Soul Edge, when Taki wins, it sounds like she says:

"Oy, I'm syndicate !"

(BTW anotheriori I love your avatar :D even though I'm a big Iori fan)

I thought the hurricane kick was "ata. ta... taa. ta" but I haven't played the game in years.

Guile in CvS2 when he says "Let's go", it sounds like he's saying "Rice bowl!"

And I always thought it was "Rayden bubbaloooooo!" in MK.

Man. I can reel off a whole bunch of shit of what people thought was being said in SF games. A couple off the dome:

Guile: Sonic Boom = "Honey Flew"
Ken/Ryu: Shoryuken = "All You Get"

My friend Mike allways thought that Raiden said "CHOPPING BROCCOLIIIIIII!!!!"

Now my mom while watching me play SF2T thought that Ryu was saying "I WASHED IT!" when I'd do a Hadoken. I thought that was funny.

*sigh*

In Street Fighter III, one of Yun's win pose quotes sounds like "Slap the condom on!"

Seriously... we gotta make a list of this shit !

Hado-ken and Raiden's torpedo attack ALONE could fill up a whole page.... :)

Haha, now I can never hear that quote without hearing that.

But it did spark my memory on Akuma's SAIII whirlwind kick. Swear to god it sounds like..
"This sucks weiner!!!! WIEIIINNEERRRR!!!"

More like weina but still.

Now that I think of it...

I remember playing SF2T on the SNES and my mother thought Ken and Ryu were saying A-Bull-Shit, when they threw fireballs.

My theory is that guile was lost in the woods and since SF2 lost his ability to speak english correctly, same goes for cammy.
Lets Battle : "Retsu Barreru" ~ Rice Barrel

The funniest sounds i've ever heard from a fighter come from SF: The Movie (arcade version).

Just listen to the gibberish Ryu/Ken yell when they do a hurricane kick :lol

I remember people used to say it was "All you can" for the dragon punch, because it took all their effort to do the move. Made sense at the time...

I think most garbled message ever has to be at the beginning of thunderforce 2 on Genesis, though.

I always heard express-barooss-ken. Closest one was shep-brep-bruuken in this thread, so I guess it's not just me.

Edit: and GULLEY is honestly the stupidest pronunciation I've ever heard, but it's used more than the proper one, even after they say GUY-EL in the game.
