Sudden back acne, what could have caused it??

Status
Not open for further replies.
I didn't get a single one on my back the entire summer, but just last week alone I got like 6 (on different days)... WTF? I'm trying to figure out what could have caused it, something I'm eating/doing/not doing, but I can't seem to figure it out... Any ideas?

And I'd like to mention that my tag is baseless, I think john tv gave it to me in spite when I "trolled" his thread about vitamins, I do not have ass acne :p

Bacne is so horrible.

Yes, and I'm determinded to get rid of it pretty damn quickly... It really sucks that it popped up JUST NOW, the timing couldn't have been any worse (I don't think you care about the details).

Question: I'm thinking of sun tanning to help hide it, but I heard sun can increase acne, is that true? I never saw tanned skin with acne :p

Have you been working out alot? Sweating + friction can increase it. I get it bad if I don't shower twice a day. I also use Proactiv. I works quite well. Also keep your bedding and clothes clean. Basically, as my dermatologist told me a long time ago, in order for acne to exist it needs oil, bacteria/dirt, and friction. Eliminate those and you'll have done everything possible.

Oh, and don't freak out - sometimes a break out will occur at random once or twice a year because of stress or allergies.

For me it has nothing to do with hygiene, but I notice that 3-7 days after i've eaten a ton of junk food, I break out on my arms, back and face. It's different for everybody though, apparently. The worst thing you can do while you have them is irritate them, just leave them alone and they'll go away.

* wash your pillow case every few days

* rub isoprophal rubbing alcohol on your skin after you shower

* rub isoprophal rubbing alcohol on your skin at different times during the day

* excercise

* drink water

That stuff that's clogging your pores is also probably compounded with toxins in your bloodstream that sweat themselves out to the surface. Also, eating yogurt wouldn't hurt. It helps your body fight bacteria.

My pattern response was going to be "load shot on your back" then I saw the poster was adelgary. don't want to be rude ;) just an ass.

Hah.

I'm glad I never had bacne. What's even worse is these girls at school that insist on wearing spaghetti straps when they have more zits on their back than Triple H.

Two things i sdicsovered may help:

Zinc tablest

Tree Tea Oil

Plus the usual stuff, including body wash with 2% Salicyic Acid

I don't know what it is exaclty htat's worked, but the overall combo has pretty much nailed it.

Rubbing Alcohol?? That stuff is strong. Especially 91%...

Ever since I finished Accutane my acne problems have been minimal, thank god. Still get the occasional one here and there, though.

Eating milk chocolate, which has quite a lot of fat in it. At least that's what I've heard.

Isn't that the stuff where you have to get blood tests while you're on it?

My girlfriend was on it when she was younger, because swimming really screwed up her skin, it it worked really well.

I've been debating for awhile whether or not to go on acne medication. I'll be 19 in november, and I still get acne on my face every now and then.

Does anyone have any hints for reducing/removing spot scars? I have some on my back, which really bothers me. Not as much as if they were on my face, so I'm glad that hasn't happened, but still, I'd like to get rid of them.

Well, I had a serious acne problem when I was younger, so I went on Accutane as a last resort. I don't suggest the medicine unless your problem is serious - it's safe but powerful, and kinda a pain to be on. But it works.

But a sunburn is different from a sun tan. Does tanning really increase acne? I've heard both.

I'll suggest the same thing I suggested to you the last time you asked about acne - high potency Vitamin B+C tablets :p

That amount of times Doctors told me 'go out in the sun' when I had bad face acne in the late 80's / early 90's really pissed me off. Sun does NOT dry out grease on the skin, it only increases - fucking old wives tales Dr bastards.

Hot water increases grease on the skin.

Eating chocolate / ect makes NOT ONE BIT OF DIFFERENCE.

I'd blame it on a hormonal shift...or perhaps fabric you were wearing suffocated / inflamed your pores in this instance.

Failing that must have been the urban myth Spider burrowing into your skin and laying eggs. Enjoy being a host! :D

Eh? I dunno dude. I have kind of an oily forehead, and nothing rids my face of that gleam like some hot water.

Hotter the water, quicker the skin re-greases itself. Just use lukewarm to wash and then bathe under as cold water as you can get will help delay the process.

Actually, the skin produces oil based on stimuli. It tries to maintain a certain level of oilyness constantly. For some people it's high (oily skin), for others it's low (dry skin). If you constantly strip your skin of the oil it needs, it will OVERCOMPENSATE by by producing even more. It's better to gently wash with warm soapy water no more than twice a day.

Does anyone on this planet REALLY know how to stop acne? No. Different methods work for different people. So much contradictory advice in this thread.

Well, for some people it's chronic and needs to be treated seriously - for others it's a stress thing. But for most it's a matter of staying clean. So yeah, everybody is different but there are certain causes of acne that are universal.

Yeah many people make the mistake of using spot products that 'over dry' the skin. Bad for the skin and acne. Tepid water is best to wash with.

Best to use proper 'non pore blocking' moisturizers instead of daily spot moisturizers. Oil Free stuff dont actually matter much as your pores can still get blocked anyway. Best to wash with tepid water(not hot or cold). Try to not use something that drys the skin. Not good at all in the long run. Ok to use stuff now and again if you feel the need but dont over do it. Best to go to the professionals in that case.

Bingo.

See a dermatologist if you're worried and want to get rid of it. I found the doctors to be a waste of time. I think its also a psychological benefit lol. I dont think about spots or acne anymore since taking accutane. One less constant annoyance. :)

I remember reading about a new Acne treatment that is due to be in use soon. Dermo introduces a bacteria onto your skin that feeds and kills off P-Acnes bacteria living in the skin. Won't stop greasy skin, but will mean no big red spots.

Loki

Count of Concision
When I was 13-16 or so, I used to get a LOT of pimples, mostly where my moustache would have been and also along the side of my nose and around the bottom of my mouth. I tried several creams and soaps and stuff, and even saw a dermatologist; what eventually worked for me was that I just STOPPED using soap on my face (as absurd and unhygienic as it sounds), and only use cold water-- I just splash it on my face repeatedly, possibly massage it into my face if I feel it's necessary. I also use paper towels to dry my face, as the hand towel is usually dirty (too dirty for your face, anyway-- I feel that that's how germs and dirt get in your pores).

Of course, if I get some REAL goop on my face, I use soap and warm/hot water, but that's only happened a few times over the years. I've been doing this since I'm 16-17, and ever since, if I get 4 pimples per year it's a lot. I typically get one that comes to a head every 4-6 months, and that's all. So that's what worked for me. :)

lol. I have never had much of problem with them thankfully.

sounds good. I swear by accutane or Roaccutane(UK). It does the job. Even smoothens your skin while you are at it. My skin isnt greasy or dry either anymore its now normal. Took many months however after dryness :)

Bear in mind there are afew acne types.

If I remember correctly, you're an adult, and shouldn't be battling acne all of a sudden.

One thing you might try: Reduce your sugar intake...and keep an eye on the situation. One sign of diabetes is an increase in the number of skin infections. Chances are, though, that it's just "one of those things."
