Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Official Reveal Trailer -- "Alpha Target"

It's 2022 because they want to take the time to build it into next-gen properly, not just rush out some current-gen game with half-ass ray-tracing. It's a tricky time to make a next-gen game right at the transition of generations, I don't blame them.

Looks like a dogshit selection of characters
The game being suicide squad already made sure that the characters would be dogshit.

Suicide Squad is less relevant than Howard the Duck. I could think of a gazillion GaaS co-op game ideas for DC that‘d be a billion times more interesting than a Suicide Squad game.
Only way this game survives is if they absolutely nail the gameplay and presentation of the title. It wont be able to coast along and bank on character appeal like the Avengers title.

I don’t think that was CGI, could have been much better if it was
Also i don't get why many think it's CGI,
Already confirmed to be CG. Had it been in-engine or in realtime, they would've stated as such like WB games did for the Gotham Knights reveal.

We won't be seeing the actual game for another couple years, aside from maybe another cinematic trailer in 2021.

That’s really weird then, it definitely doesn’t look that great to be CGI. The Batman Arkham origins CGI trailer looked way better than this. Somethings missing here

How it's confirmed? Unless Geoff works for RS and i didn't hear about it?

The definitions for "CG trailers" differs on whom you talk to. He could just mean that it was a cinematic trailer and called it CGI (wich if you nit-pick it, is not wrong even if it was real-time. It's still computer graphics imagery after all)
It's either pre-rendered (or as some call it, off-line rendered) using the games engine, or real-time (again using the games engine ofc)

It could also be the result of an outsourced trailer company. rendered to what they beleive that traget can acheive. (depends how far they are in development)

I tried to define the different terms awhile ago here

So, is he lying? The game who market games for others companies?

No not lying, geoff is a good dude. He just said that from his personal thoughts i guess, if he got this info from RS he would have precised it.

Unless RS come and says it's CG i'll stick with my guts and say it's engine trailer, as it's what i think it is personally.

Looks really like CG for me, unless they're using Unreal Engine 5.

I mean look at the where they show Harleen fingers and the pizza, this looked very engine didn't it? if this was CG this would have been too bad to be CG. The Arkham Knights trailer screamed CG at the start but not this one.

It's interesting you mention UE5 cause i'm wondering which engine they'll go for, still no info about this.

Both of these games feel like they’ve been designed by committee to tie in with other D.C. projects as much as possible. One or both will probably end up having live service elements. Neither appear to be crafted as single player, narrative driven experiences like the Arkham games. The stink of corporate greed hangs off them both.

I guess the beta version of UE5 is already in use only for devs if I remember right, so there is a possibility if the release is between 2021~2022.

Seriously the constant negativity of core gamers is annoying . Complaining about everything all the time -_-. Anyway...

That's BS. Just because everyone isn't getting wet about every bland hyper focus tested AAA game doesn't mean there's a "constant negativity".

Eiyuden Chronicle had good reactions, Hitman 3 had good reactions, Chorus had good reactions, Crash 4 had good reactions, Shadow Warrior 3 had good reactions, Avowed had good reactions, that Wukong game from unheard of Chinese dev had good reaction, etc, etc
(I specifically avoided Sony games so people don't whine about Sony fanboys)

Some people being disappointed by this is perfectly understandable. Rocksteady is primarily known for making some of the best single player superhero games, based on one of the most popular superhero IP's out there. After 5 years since their previous game, getting a CGI reveal of a multiplayer shooter based on a way less popular franchise (that just had a terrible movie not long ago) is clearly not going to please everyone.

So you think just a handfull of engineers in the world could make that demo? Cmon.. Only because you have seen "something" doesn't mean that other things can't exist.. Quite the contrary actually...

They should've gotten Ron Funches to voice King Shark again, especially since the game seems to be more light hearted than the Arkham trilogy, it would've been a good fit

That's just semantics. It's CG as in 'not representative of the actual game' CG. As in 'outsourced to a VFX studio' CG.

Again, if it were in-engine or realtime they would've said as much, like they did for Gotham Knights.

What reason would Geoff have to lie? Believe whatever you want to believe I guess...

Kinda lame siting semantics, when that semantics actually decides the argument.
With that said, I have no info of it being real-time either, so ofc it could be pre-rendered. But If that's the case though, it's scaled down to try to represent the game engine.
Usually if your'e going CG anyways you could turn it up to eleven and get much, much better quality than was presented here.

Somebody should just ask Geoff on twitter of what his definition of CG is...

So both Rocksteady games are multiplayer focused it seems like, not liking the direction this is going, can see them adding a bunch of GaaS stuff.

All due respect, but I don't believe any of what you said is even necessary. It's a CG trailer reveal, however disappoint but not surprising.
This has been the case for countless AAA game reveals, especially for 3rd party titles.

If it weren't we'd know for sure because they'd be boasting about it. Sounds like you're holding on the hope of it being something that's it's not.
We'll know what the actual game looks like in 1.5 to 2 years from now (or hopefully sooner than that)

I’m kinda looking forward to this because it’s Rocksteady and they deserve the benefit of many doubts.

However, the beauty of having something like this is that it exists outside of the cinematic universe. So, if it’s part of the Arkhamverse, then why does Quinn not look like a natural evolution of the model from the Arkham games? Why does she have to look like Robbie? Why does Deadshot change race to become more like the cinematic version? The whole point of having something like the Arkhamverse is to have that alternate vision in the first place. If it’s outside the Arkhamverse, then fine. But it’s just a weird mishmash instead. Just stinks of odd choices, when you really don’t need to appeal to any kind of aesthetics from the movie.

generic enemies while expecte due to the violent nature is still disappointing
The only thing I went “ugh” at - big spaceship overtakes city with alien like enemies in some glowing armour. Generic like you said. Do all comic nerds get raging hard ons for visuals like that?

You could be right, but boasting if it were real-time? It wasn't THAT impressive. I for one, expect more from this gen. (talking real-time rendering here, not in-game)

I get that, but what does Geoff stand to gain by passing along false info? Considering his standing in the industry and connections, he would be privy to any details stating that was the game engine running on console or PC in the form and relay it as such like he does all the time for just about every major game announcement. It's pretty much what he does professionally lol.

I understand you really want it to be true, but that isn't the case here unfortunately. Hopefully the actual game manages to look almost as good when we eventually see it, and with actual gameplay next time.

No one is saying he has anything to gain. It's just a point of choosing your words carefully. If he's aware of the differences, it's all ok. CG it is.
Is there a possibility that he simply just called it CG since it was a scenematic trailer after all and certainly no gameplay? Probably.
Only he knows.. I'd say it's better to question things rather than swallow everything whole.

If it were in-engine or realtime they would be boasting about it. Keyword 'if 'lol.
I know what you meant, and I stand firm on my reply that IF it were real-time, I'm not blown away, 'cause I expect more of this gen.

Cool CG trailer, definitely want to see more now. Would have been great to see some gameplay. I like the vibe of the game. It has almost a Sunset Overdrive feel to it, I'm liking this direction/feel so far.

It's not about being right or not, when i see the trailer it looks in engine to me, if i'm not wrong, cool, if i'm wrong, still cool.

And Geoff saying CG seems to be his own thoughts, not something he heard from devs, either way he would have precise that, so that being said he could be mistaken, didn't that possibility came to your mind? also i can have my opinion right? Geoff is a passionate industry dude, i love this guy believe it or not (no gay lmao), but i'm ain't gonna take his words as bible either.

I agree that people aren't perfect, but I don't think it's that deep lol.
It's not really a matter of opinion or his word being gospel. He's simply passing that info along, because that's literally what it is.

It doesn't seem he's passing info, but more of just posting his hot feeling about what he seen.

Suicide Squad really isn’t good, I don’t know why DC keeps pushing them. The only good Suicide Squad thing I’ve seen was Hell to Pay, that movie was amazing but it was so good because of the over all universe and not the actual squad.

Interesting: looks too bad for CGI and too good for In-engine. But it's 2022, who knows how good AAA graphics will become then.

Some were saying it’s a target render. So it’s CGI but it tries to represent what the game might look like.

It seems some people believe "alpha target" is referring to it being a target trailer, Alpha Target is referring to Superman who the squad was sent to kill in the trailer. I've seen a few people on twitter saying "no that's a target render" etc and it's like they didn't even watch the trailer lol.

I have only known Suicide Squad since that shitty movie came out, and I'm sure than in older comics they were cooler - but my biggest problem is that the characters are so lame. The only cool one I've seen is that Katana chick but I guess she doesn't fit in with the quippy vibe. And Harley Quinn has become insufferable

Now you know why WB was looking for a buyer lol

The game is shit. Capeshit as it name suggests has 90% of the time been shit. The characters are shit. Hollywood has ruined Harley Quinn, now she’s shoved down our throat every chance they get.
No I don’t want anime looking Harley Quinn.
know, I know and everybody with sense knows that why she’s looking like this in the CGI.
It’s quite an achievement for progressive gaming when the real life actress is better looking.

The game is coming 2022. It has to have to top notch graphics and some new gameplay loop to succeed. How are those chances looking rn?
Rocksteady is dead don’t be in denial like you where with BioWare. Out of a certain niche fan base nobody wants to play as Cpt. Coomerang or whatever new woke shit they will 100% announce in the future.

Harley Quinn is the new Cow for them. Let’s see how much milk she has left in her.
