Trailer looks amazing. But something about will Smith doesn't sit right with me. It feels like he is the same in every movie.
Side note does anyone know anything about the actress playing tatsu (katana). I cannot find anything on her.

Seems like her first movie:
Karen fukuhara is a Japanese-American actress from Los Angeles. While attending UCLA, she continued to work on numerous shows in Japan, notably as the host for 'World Sports MLB' on NHK and the Disney Channel in Japan. She is set to play Katana in the upcoming film Suicide Squad. She resides in Toronto, Canada.

she's new to film.

Thanks..... Well I'm more worried then before.

I see I hope she does well. I enjoy tatsu

Safe characters are Katana (I believe), Deadshot, Harley, Boomerang, Enchantress, and Rick Flagg.

RIP Rope Guy.

Yea, I think Diablo and Rope Guy and Croc are on the hit list. Diablo and Rope Guy because they're nobodies and Croc because his makeup has to be hell to pay for and sit through.

...I can see it xD
People should not run with rampant speculation just because they don't want Joker with tats and grills.

Personal bias aside, why do you believe Katana is safe? Please note I'm only familiar with her appearance in Arrow.

Katana has been more prominent in recent DC comics and she has more potential for other DC sequels (like a possible Birds of Prey) than a lot of guys in the squad. And normally she is not a villain, so she can easily join the good guys.

Basically this. DC has put a lot into the character lately. I don't see them letting Ayer kill her off when she could be used later.

Kind of on this topic, seeing this movie has some pretty strong female representation in Harley, Waller, Katana, and Enchantress. I hope the writing is up to snuff to give us another Mad Max: action film that's surprisingly empowering for women.

Honestly I went from "What is this?" to "This looks terrible!" after the trailer.

Oh well it can join Ant-Man and Fantastic Four (again) in the rubbish movie pile.

complete opposite for me, after the first few official photos I was kind of 'eh' on it, seriously those photos looked dreadful. Now after this footage, I'm hyped for this.

I can't imagine they'll kill as many characters as some of you expect, can they? This is a comic-book movie. They'll wanna make Suicide Squad 2 and 3, and use these characters in other films too.

I think there will be a lot ot deaths. I don't expect anyone besides Deadshot and Harley to return in sequel. Everybody else will either die or move to other movies. I think this is the main reason why they managed to get such great cast = little contractual commitement.
Suicide Squad can be the IP where the biggest actors get to play around without being forced to sign 8 movies deal.

I think something like that could happen because of the current progressive moment we are living. That said I'm not expecting Harley to fall for Joker anymore at least not as submissive.. I can see them make this movie her "redemption", especially if they focus on how abusive their relationship was, which is likely after the torture scene at the trailer.

But I hope she is still a villain in the end.

Thanks! I appreciate it. :)

enchantress is show on 2 scenes in the trailer .... nowhere with the main dudes.

Or she dies or go rogue

Four, actually. Her in the cave for an elaborate back story presumably, her in the rain with some other guy, her with Rick Flagg in the building interior, and then her in the mud revival thing. If she dies, it's because she's the main threat of the movie and is defeated.

A lot of people seem to have something against Will Smith and his son nowadays regardless of his role in movies. It's weird.
I think After Earth got rid of any goodwill Mr. Smith and his son had.

Honestly I will admit I am biased against DC movies. I haven't like one since Batman Returns. So I doubt it could do much to make me excited. Hopefully the Justice League movie will get me hyped.

Hopefully they don't sexualize Harley's torture or abuse. :/

I think it's safe they won't. The movie is probably PG 13. The Joker is really popular and sells. Sexualizing the torture or abuse would drive fans mad or disgusted which is not a good move for them imo.

Same hope. She looks fully clothed at the very least. Praying that scene is a quick origin with Joker using the electrodes and laughing as the scene fades away.

Is that her definitely getting tortured?
I haven't read the comics or anything so don't really know much.

Well see but the scene sequenced makes it seem like it's at least Harley on the slab. Usual Harley origins involve her just being manipulated by the Joker through their interactions as psychiatrist and patient into throwing away her inhibitions and giving way to her id.

She's most likely a plot device of sorts.

Makes sense seeing how she should be a much bigger threat than any of the rest. I'd take a guess and say we aren't going to get a lot of footage of her so as to not giveaway her role. They seem to be focusing a lot on the Joker side of the story in pre-release material understandably as that will be the biggest draw.

Really liked the trailer, everyone seems well cast and Leto looks like he's got the potential to be a fantastic rendition of the Joker.

Maybe we won't see a torture scene. Joker has tried to abuse Harley in comics, but she resisted.

The whole last ten seconds or so of the trailer is him giving Dr Quinzel electric shock treatment which will result in her mental break into the Harley persona. I'd say that falls under torture.

I'm not saying the Joker turned robin into joker sounds stupid, but it sounds stupid.

Joker killing robin sounds way way better and plays better.

It does sound stupid. I hope the dead Robin is Tim so we can still get Nightwing and eventually Carrie as the Robin post BvS. I'd be totally happy with them skipping Jason altogether.
