Fushigi Yugi does some neat things like Neverending Story style "character reads events pertaining to other character as they happen", but it uses a bunch of cliches as well. I also remember the followup OVAs being atrocious.

Well my experience was just with the first VHS, so I probably only saw two episodes. I can deal with cliches, but is it overall enjoyable? Remembering this suddenly is piquing my interest in the series again, but I don't want to waste my time if it ends up being pretty bland overall.

I liked Fushigi Yugi but this was back when I was obsessed with the medium and thought everything with even a little bit of fighting and/or supernatural powers was awesome. I'd probably hate it if I saw it today.
Are you the author of Setokai Yakuindomo? Is that your mainstream "clean" work?

I wanted to wait for the domestic re-release to watch for the first time~! Oh well, I suppose I can just discuss it is the current anime thread later on.
That's what I'm doing brother, probably another 6 months or so of waiting but that's what I'm doing, unless the price Nozomi announces is higher than finding the old version.

But the hype.
Also macOdin or someone said I couldn't/shouldn't marathon it. I'm giving myself a week to prove him wrong. Manly pride is at stake here.
Don't bother trying to get the lower case and capitals right, lol, old throwback from when I was really worried about security and wanted a username that wasn't gibberish but in places that actually took into account upper and lower case was harder to guess. And yes, manly pride is at stake. If I knew you'd take it seriously though you should have been challenged to watch something worse, like Inuyasha, even though it was just an off hand comment and not a real challenge anyways. I still stand by you not finishing it in a week however. But if you do manage I wish I could see you in person, any relatives you'd like me to contact for you so they're not wondering why they can't get a hold of you?
What are the best series of the last four or five seasons? I haven't watched anything other than Fullmetal Alchemist. I'd like to go back and watch the best of the last year or two.
Best of 2009 are Spice and Wolf II and Zoku Natsume Juujinchou, I don't really want to pick anything from 2010 because I haven't seen anything good from this year, but Tatami Galaxy is supposed to be good and it's all up on Hulu so I may finally start that show.
