God, I wanna like Gate but they neutered it so fucking hard it's hard to get through some of the episodes.
I also, for the first time in my life, want the loli to win the harem simply because their relationship is far and away the best one. Just finish the TV series of Wolf Rain. Man....the journey is one hell of a ride I have to say. Will watch the OVA once I finish typing my impression of the show in the next few days so I can let the show sink in a bit.

The OVA is the true ending of Wolf's Rain; the 4 episodes that were only released on home video were originally planned to air on TV before the SARS epidemic necessitated the 4 recap episodes. Don't judge Wolf's Rain as a whole until you're able to watch the real end.

The core problem is that moment felt like a Drug PSA then a natural story turn, which it was.
About to start EP7 of Rokka. Things are looking good so far! It's a closed circle locked room mystery that didn't even need to begin with a murder to be mysterious or interesting, and the way characters act makes sense given the situation they're in.
Talk about a fake-out, since I had dropped it at EP3 since I thought it was only going to be a generic "let's fight evil!" story where the bad guys were nothing but conspicuous CG monsters and fancy talking lizardmen with wings.

Episode 20 is the great epic battle against Domel. Edge of the seat stuff as it seemed like the enemy one step ahead of the Yamato crew every time.

Out of all the stuff that I'm watching, this is the weakest one. Can't bring myself to drop it now that I'm this far in, but it's literally as if they take one step forward and then 2 steps back. At this point I don't even care anymore.

Non Non Biyori S1 - EPs 2-3
Getting introduced to the cast once again after having watched a bit of S2 is weird, since I don't think that's even necessary. Still no 具, but man, this show is comfy as hell. Looks like Hotaru really wants sempai to notice her, which is a bit... weird. Komari not even knowing that she was hanging out with Hotaru was a bit weird (just how much of a dojikko can she be?), but it was still okay, I guess.
... A romance movie, yeah...
The sister's big brother not ever speaking a single line is a bit weird, but then again he's mostly a non-entity in the show anyway.
Also, I just realized I kind of like it when a character's hair moves on its own for some reason. Komari's antena's got nothing on Araragi's, though.
Which is why I decided to give the show a second chance. The show's kind of sneaky in how it fails the three-episode rule, but actually becomes decent right afterwards.

Even with the drama coming back full force this episode, I thought this was pretty good. The way that LL handled the situation made the resulting fallout from NG even worse in comparison. I can't even fault Mio compared to her drama from the first half, since it was a lot more understandable this time. At least Producer showed that he learned from last time.
At least we're moving into Uzuki's arc now. Finally.

I'll give this one episode a pass since it's been pretty damn good on the whole, but something felt completely different with this episode than all the previous ones.
Oh and the last couple episode of the Eccentric Family ep 10-12 have been awesome, awesome awesome. It's hard stopping from watching the final episode until tomorrow night.

Please tell me they kept that ATROCIOUS bit about figuring out it was American cause the soldier they killed was black. The whole scene and explanation for it made me roll my eyes so hard I'm pretty sure I got booked against Brock Lesnar.

Then Mio goes 'hey guyz im gon solo too lol!" Which then makes her look bad in a way even if she didn't make that decision till after that talk with Producer.

I'm not watching Gate, but I'm not entirely certain why a big dumb militaristic conquer the foreign enemy story being more than a bit nationalistic is such a surprise.

I'm more put off by the sheer praise of military violence... there's no reflection on actions. With an almost religious tacit approval of the good guys and the war time 'hoary us' title cards, it all seems almost like cringe inducing propaganda.
The nationalistic slant, though ridiculous at times, isn't really bothering me... if youre going to right fiction then what's wrong with making yourself the star of your own fantasy?
I love the characters and the banter but this lol Goth centuries old preteen demon seductress trope needs to die in a fire.
