Super Mario Bros Sequel Movie Titled "Super Mario World"

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

An exciting range of films from Universal Pictures, Focus Features, DreamWorks Animation and Illumination were presented, including Megan 2.0, Nobody 2, Bad Guys 2, How to Train Your Dragon, Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, Black Phone 2, HIM, The Phoenician Scheme, Super Mario World, Shrek, and Minions.

what if this is all a setup for Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island????

Should have made a SMB2. Take a completely different movie that has nothing to do with the Mario franchise and then stick Mario characters in everywhere in place of the old characters.

I didn't enjoy the original movie enough to want to see the sequel, but I do like that Nintendo is returning to the "World" branding with this and Mario Kart World. It's nice when their names convey some sense of grandeur and scope rather than just slapping a number or "New" onto an existing brand.

Finally...

No joke. I actually saw the original Super Mario Bros. movie at the theatre when I was like 12, on its opening day back in 1993. I saw it with a friend, and the theatre was practically empty except for maybe half a dozen other people. There were these two kids who were younger than me throwing popcorn and cheap candy at each other for half of the film. They weren't even watching the movie. One kid literally hit me in the head with a 5cent chewable candy.

I feel like, I am one of the few who actually paid money to watch the movie at the cinema. Because it bombed hard at the box office. When I was 12, I hated it. I thought it looked 'cheap' and generic... the only elements that I liked were Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo... I guess Dennis Hopper was mildly amusing too.

These days, I don;t hate the movie as much as I did back then. I think I was just spoiled. Fuck. I sat in the same theatre a week later to watch another movie featuring Dinosaurs called: Jurassic Park. Jurassic Park played to a full house on opening night. It was so full that people were sitting on the side isles because there were no seats left. The owner of the cinema gave no fucks.

The first movie was made with a suprising amount of care, plenty of great references to the older games throughout. No politically correct nonsense either. Looking forward to this.
