Super Mario Run announced for iOS (Android later), Dec 2016, Screens/Info in OP

Why the surprise?
Releasing exclusives to other platforms did happen before, during Nintendo's heydays

Thank you! Hrm, So even though iPad 2 can go up to it, it won't work on iPad 2? :/

Sadly your iPad 2 doesn't look like it's compatible., judging by the list it doesn't look like it supports previous "non-air" models of iPads.

Your iPad may support iOS 8 but it looks like Nintendo decided against supporting older models. The game doesn't look too complex to run so hopefully Nintendo manages to increase device compatibility over time.

Holy shit, those fuckers never learn. Its not even a F2P game.

Neither is minecraft.

While it's not going to reach minecraft levels, it being paid doesn't mean it's impossible to do well. Unless they do something daft like price it like a full retail 3ds game, Mario is still in a position to be a huge seller.

His fate of being exposed to hundreds of millions? Poor guy.

His fate of letting his home for the last 30 years to work on someone else's place for a over simplistic cash grab game.

Look at his sad resigned face:

I feel like, at the end of a level, instead of cheering up and take of his hat he will be only doing something like this -> ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Getting super hard to tell who's joking and who's legit bummed at having an inexpensive mario game on the go without having to thoroughly invest in an ecosystem that's on its way down.

If it looks fun and runs on my iPhone I'm buying this.

Makes sense, this will not hurt console Mario games any more than Hitman GO and Lara Croft GO did their console counterparts.

This is how you do it, people.

Learned about this from the stock% rise thread. Was wondering what Nintendo had to do with Apple as I was slowly scrolling down, lol

Anyway, I don't like endless runners so I'll probably never bother with this

I'll need to finally get a controller for my Apple TV.

Did they announce Apple TV though? I don't think they did. Anyway you push on the screen to make Mario jump, that's it.
You could probably play it with the included remote if it ever does come to Apple Tv.
Other than that it doesn't seem like the game has that much longevity.

The most surprising thing about this is how not surprising it is.

Like, everyone and their mother imagined a Mario mobile game would be a runner, so naturally everyone thought Nintendo would do something else. But not only did they take the most predictable approach, they even used recycled NSBM assets.

Still, as far as runners go, it'll probably be good.

This is a cash grab, but no more so than those other NSMB games. They're just a cash grab relative to their pricing. Of course one that's going to sell for like a buck or two will seem cheaper than one selling at normal portable/console pricing.

I said Nintendo stock was for holding on to. Lol at anyone who sells their shares

Lol @ myself for being too poor to have a portfolio

True and fine by me. Mobile gaming blows. I have no problem with Nintendo dumping very safe ideas there.

Its Nintendo, it won't be cheap. And they made of point of telling us "no in app purchases", witch translates to high cost up front.

The only thing I'm annoyed with about this game is the fact it uses NSMB style assets.
Makes sense I guess, cheap and recognizable. I just hate the way it looks.

If the NSMB games were cash grabs then I guess every Mario game must be.
