Is it fun?

I enjoy it. Definately enjoy it more now that they've finally added music to the game though. 1.5 got loaded up quite often when a few friends were over and there was no games on the TV. It's more of a party game than anything.

As for the legality of it I don't see why it wouldn't be. They aren't trying to sell it so I guess it's as illegal as all of the sprite comics/flash games that you can find on any number of websites. (except for the Xbox version built with the sdk though...)

Super Mario War is so funny on Xbox. Up to 4 players can play and it's so easy it's stupid.

I played this with two other guys who aren't into console gaming (or gaming at all) and we had a blast.

it says the source code is available for this game but i can't find it. anyone know where i can get it?

Depends on what you consider good...

There's the ports of stuff like Quake3, Doom Legacy (all the Dooms and Hexen), and Open Railroad Tycoon which are as good as the PC versions I suppose and are a bit more fleshed out than most homebrew.

However if you want games just to play for a few minutes at a time can't go wrong with noiz2sa and rRootage...KoboX and MirrorMagicX are pretty cool as well. and Dead Babies Xtreme which despite it's offensive name is a pretty interesting robotronesque game where you play generic soldier with flashy weapons (with upgrades) trying to fend off a swarm of clock work grenade dolls.

i'd personally love to see a DS and PSP release of this. PSP to use the widescreen display for a few distance based modes and DS for a stacked map mode and maybe some touchscreen gimick...

Wifi support in both of course.

Sex!

Not sure where to get it (as I don't follow DS homebrew) but it's out there somewhere for those that do.

neato!

I've had it on my Xbox HDD for over a month and a half, it's a very fun game.

Kind of like playing a multi tiered Mario Brothers game in a Super Mario atmosphere with the old school UT announcer.

What awesome timing! All my old friends are rolling into town for the holidays beginning tonight, and I'm sure this'll be the favorite multiplayer game of the season.

Anyone who loves multiplayer games and hasn't given this a shot REALLY should. I don't think I've laughed as hard playing any other game in my entire life.

Actually its too bad this wasn't the style of the pack in mario game for the GBA marios. The Mario 3 world is so much nicer than the pipeworks.
