Super Mario World is Amazing!

But people fail to see this beautiful game for what it is, rather they go into it with preconceptions of how it should be.

I think if it were a truly great game, you wouldn't have to say that.

Why not make it easy for yourselves, guys?

Just pick Super Mario All-Stars+Super Mario World on the SNES as the best Mario game ever. Then you get the five best Mario games all packed into one cart. :D

I'm 16. I grew up on this stuff.

I'm 18. I got a SNES the first year it came out. I beat SMW many times over. Being 19 is no excuse.

I love SMW. I recently picked up Mario 3 on the GBA for Christmas, because I've never played it. So far, I'm really liking it. Now, being 18 and not having played Mario 3 is a little more plausible.

Super Mario World is an amazing game. However, it is hard to believe that the game is almost fifteen years old. My how time passes. It's pretty disappointing that Nintendo still hasn't made another true 2D Mario game in all that time. As great a game it is, I've always wanted to see Nintendo make a sequel to it. Or at least another game in the same vein.

About 1991, when I bought my SNES, I was blown away by the game. I think I said at the time, "This game was awesome. I can't wait to see what the next Mario will be like!" I waited, and waited, and waited. And Mario never came back. I think it was about 4 years later, and there was a blurb in Nintendo Power about "Super Mario World 2". Excitement at last! However, my anticipation deflated upon learning a few months later that it was more of a 'Yoshi' game than a Mario game. Not to take anything away from the equally(If not more-so) brilliant Yoshi's Island, of course. But it's a different beast than Mario. Years later, Gameboy Advance came out. The first thought in my mind - "At last! Now Nintendo has NO excuse not to make a new Super Mario Bros. game!". Re-hash after port after re-hash, I was wrong. Now GBA is close to death, and Portable gaming has gone 3D. We may never get another game like Super Mario World, alas.

Damn, that last post just made me sad. I don't want to believe there will never be another true 2D Mario game ever again.

Well we can all look forward to young rebel pilot Mario Mario taking on the Empire in a variety of vehicles in Rogue Squadron: Mario Strike!

I am very sad that Mario is just a shadow of his former NES/SNES glory days self, I hope we see a traditional 2D Platformer with the old school art style but should just go back and turn on my NES.

It will be a sad day when it stops working!

Yeah, SMW is my number one game of all time. I think I have spent more hours on that game than any other, with the possible exception of FF2.

I like it when you complete it properly after getting all the star roads that takes you to the special zone, then all the koopa's in the levels turn into like baseball players.
